    What is this?
One of my red tails has a hard bump on her side. I just got her today, and her previous owner had no idea either, she had just noticed it last night. I was wondering if anyone here knew what it is, so I know if I should take her to the vet. Thanks.

How long has she had it?

    Not to freak you out.
We woke up a few weeks ago. Noticed a lump on the side of one of my Carpets. Wasn't there the week before. Took her to the vet and got X-rays. Turned out to be cancer. She made it another 2 weeks. :(

I would get her checked out for sure.
    Good luck

I agree with the above comment. Go to the vet. Could be cancerous.

No idea how long. It was just noticed last night.

I'm going to get her into a vet then. I hope this isn't cancer.

    I hope it's not.
I searched the web for a couple of days and couldn't find any info.

It might be an abscess. Let us know what they say.

It could be any number of things and only a vet will know for sure. Could be cancer, an abscess, or crypto (dear God I hope it's not that....). I hope you find out soon and that it's something minor like an abscess. Keep us posted!

So after the vet trip we've found out it's only an abscess. I got medication for it and it should be gone in maybe 2 weeks they said. I'm glad it's nothing so bad.

So, I have to give the last shot today, but the bumps aren't gone. I've actually found 2 more. I really don't know what this is now but i'm worried again. :c

What did they say the first time you took her in? Did they X-ray the lump?

Did the vet just take a guess and wanted to try antibiotics first?

I don't like that more are popping up.

It honestly sounds more like cancer after that update of more lumps/bumps appearing....Did the vet just xray it the first time? Any plans of a biopsy?

They didn't do x-rays. He just took a sample of the bump with a needle and looked at it under a microscope. We called but they said they just want to try another antibiotic. I really don't believe any of these are abscesses.

Perhaps it's time for a second opinion from a different herp vet. Where do you live? Perhaps someone here could direct you to a good place.

I would also ask what would cause them.

    I live in Wisconsin.

The vet said that they're caused by some kind of bacterial thing? I don't remember exactly. But he said they couldn't be drained at all.
