What's this bump, have you seen it before???
I am just wondering if anyone on here has ever seen this on a snake before. This is a BCI, got her in a trade and it seems like maybe heavy rubbing, but I am new to boas.

Is it hard like a slight bone bump? Or soft, as if it were filled with fluid? Hard to tell just by pictures as to whether it's a structural aberration or the result of swelling (i.e. nose rub)
-
Looks like nose rub maybe?

Do you feed live? Often times it can be an infection from a rodent bite.

I would say this is an abscess. I think a vet trip is in order to get it sorted out. I wouldn't want to deal with this on my own.

I agree with this. It appears to be more of an abscess than a rub.

Ok just did a quick google search and lots if others seem to think this is an abscess as well, and that it probably started from her rubbing her nose because she had no place to hide.

Also, just called the vet. She said she also has seen this and said its usually caused by rubbing the nose a LOT. The guy I got her from did not have a hide in her tub, but I put one in, can never hurt to have one AND she seems to love being able to hide. The vet said it should go away by itself as long as she's not rubbing her nose anymore!!!
Gonna give it a week and see if it even starts to go down, if not, vet trip it is!!!

Glad you called a vet. I doubt it'll go away on it's own though. Don't mean to be negative - and I actually hope it will go away, but abscesses generally need an antibiotic to heal. Reptiles capsulize infection so an abscess can linger for a looong time before presenting other problems, but likewise, it won't go away readily on it's own either as the infection will remain enclosed and not break out as it would in a mammal.
Good luck with her and keep us posted!

Ok, got a buddy who has a close friend who's a vet. They had me open her mouth and I did, no redness, not open wounds and its not swollen in her mouth at all. They said that it was most likely from rubbing on her tub, so he's going to actually look at in person in Friday, and he's goi g to GIVE me some betrayal (sp?) and that should take care if it. I just hope he's not going to look at it and say it needs to be cut open and drained....but you gotta do what you gotta do!!!

Sounds good. At least you have a plan of action. Baytril is a good antibiotic and pretty effective with reptiles. Let us know how it turns out! ;)

At the vet right now, doc is gonna see if its an abscess by putting a small hole in it. If not its just time now that she's not cage rubbing anymore. I will let ya know what happens when I leave, wish me luck y'all!!!!

Ooooook, just left the vet, he pulled out some odd jelly like stuff, checked it out under the microscope and performed some tests and its bacteria. He gave me a syringe with a topical ointment to give everyday until its gone. So keep your fingers crossed that this takes care if the bump!!!!

No problem, I just figured you all who read this might want to know what happened!!!
I will get some pictures tomorrow after shes been left alone all day and night lol.
I got a little syringe that has a little tiny plastic applicator, I am supposed to insert it in the incision site and only put a small amount once every day until its all gone. I didn't get the name of it....wish I did, but maybe you or someone else may know what it is, or at least have a better idea than I.

Thanks everyone, here is her nose and here is what I have to "inject" in her. Don't worry, I took the pic and left her alone :)

So to me it seems to be doing a little better. It's still there but seems to be a bit smaller than in the 1st picture shown.

Re: What's this bump, have you seen it before???
That may be scar tissue, and the bump may always be there. Just keep an eye on it over the next few months to make sure it doesn't begin to swell again.
-
Oh yeah that's a definite lol
I still have more stuff to put in there, I just really wish I had the name of it!!!
