    Had a sad Thanksgiving
Yesterday my 5 year old chihuahua (Grace) was able to dig under our fence in the back yard and got loose. :( I let her out around 1100 or so in the afternoon as usual. She's the type of dog that likes to sit and baske in the sunshine and just chill out for a while, so her being outside for a long time is really no big deal, at least it never was before. I decided to go out and see what she's up to and couldn't find her. As I walked around the back yard, there it was...a freshly dug hole and no dog. I am sooo and worried that she's hurt or freezing because we have a two lane busy road right by our house and it's been getting in the 30's at night here in Columbia. It's making me sick. :tears: I was all over the place looking and calling for her last night, we put out flyers, told the neighbors, and whatever else we could think of. I've walking along the road to make sure she wasn't hit and laying in the ditch somewhere. To make it worse, she has a heart condition and has be on special food and medicine every day. Please, anyone living in Columbia in he northeast area around Killian road, Lee Road, Hardscrabble area, if you see her please call 803-315-1977. Her name is Graceland but she answers to Grace or Gracie. She doesn't usually come to strangers but she might now that she is possibly hungry and cold. I hope someone picked her up and kept her warm last night and then sees the flyers we have around. I am going to take some of the flyers to nearby vets in case someone brings her in to them. Her is a recent picture of her:

I would go around your neighborhood and ask all of your neighbors. Posting on Craigslist is also a good idea.

    Good luck! Keep us updated!

You got that right my friend, she is a troublemaker but I would do almost anything just to know she's safe

Getting the flyers to the vet hospitals is a good idea. Bring the flyers to any local shelters, and contact your local animal control officer as well. Good luck.

Wishing you the best. I hope she makes her way home to you. Was she wearing an ID tag, or is she microchipped? If she's chipped, be sure to call the company and notify them that she's lost! Flyers are always a good thing. Hit all the local vets and shelters too! I bet someone scooped her up and is keeping her safe and warm. Oh, and post a lost ad on Craigslist too! ALOT of people get on Craigslist.

I hope to see that you've got her back next time I log on!

I hope you find her soon. I would scope out some of you local pet stores also. Just in case some one takes her in for a treat or food or something.

Craigslist done, more flyers going to vets and local pet stores tomorrow. I alerted more of my friends that I initial forgot that lived in my area. I was holding on to hope today that someone got her but had to do some shopping all day and will take Saturday to either call or take her to a vet/shelter. :please: She has been chipped but I never thought about notifying the company. Thanks for that suggestion.

I am at my wits end because I have done everything I could think of and now it's sit and wait time but I feel like I need to do more.:tears::tears:

If you notify the chip company, they will send out notices to vets in the area, as well as volunteers. When I chipped my last cat, they sent me an email asking me to be a volunteer rescuer. So within an x amount of mile radius, if a chipped animal is reported lost, we all get an email. With animal info, and where abouts they were lost, to have more eyes out for them. Sadly, in a years time I have gotten about 4 lost animals, but never seen a peep of any of them. I really hope she turns up for you. Being a Chihuahua, hopefully she is just hiding somewhere, scared, and comes out soon.

26 NOV 2012, 1115, THEY FOUND HER, THEY FOUND HER, THEY FOUND HER. To make a long story short, my wife and I were getting ready to go do some stuff yesterday and got a call from a lady who saw one of our posters at a gas station close by. She said knew she saw Grace around her house the day before. We changed our plans, went to that area, and spent about three hours searching with no luck but we talked to a few more people who said they also saw her around that area. We went back home and printed more flyers to post around that neighborhood to hopefully get more hits. Sure enough, the lady that called yesterday called us again to and said Grace is around her house again and the ladies daughter was outside keeping her occupied trying to get her with treats. Well, Grace isn't a people person so I knew she would just hang around but not approach strange people. My wife called my daughter who rushed over there with her boyfriend and tracked her down and got her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    HERE SHE IS!!!!!!

She seems ok, maybe a little dirty but not nearly as bad as I thought she would be. I fed her as soon as she got home and she'll get a nice warm bath. I am soo happy today!!!!:taz::D

Come to find out, she actually had to cross a pretty busy road to get to where she was so we are pretty lucky she's still alive.

I really appreciate everyone's thoughts and well wishes through this stressful ordeal. It really helped me to know that my family and I had some support through this with all of the suggestions and ideas. Even if I didn't reply, just know that I sure was checking the post every day.

    Thanks again BP.Net family.:)

No Mike, my daughter and wife both said the same thing. I think she Shawshank Redemptioned me...:D I should have put bars in front of her face in that picture and had a .gif with the word "BUSTED" fly in and stamp on it.

I think she is a little weirded out by the whole thing (as can be expected) and just know what to think. I don't even try to think of what's going through her devious little mind because she crossed that busy road that I NEVER thought she would even go close to. She freaks out when I walk her and a car just drives by.
