People can be such........posterior orifices...sometimes.
sorry...just had to get that off my chest.
-
I'll agree completely. Any specific story you care to share or just needed to unload? With names we could track them down ;) after all..... they did mess with the family..... :)
-
:little chuckle: It's tempting Jonah....very tempting. But it wouldn't help anything....
You got AIM?
-
mmm yeah but not now unfortunately I am hard at work  at the library currently and they have blocked all IM but my IM name is JamminJonah I'll be home around 10:30

People suck sometimes (to put it nicely)

I hope everything is alright. We're here for ya!

Well...I really don't want to make anything public. Nor do I want anyone "running" to my defense. So I'll try to keep this general, and yet satisfy curiosity.
I made the mistake of taking an upopular stance in a public debate. I thought if I kept myself civil and kept religion out of the picture, then we could keep things under control. But one guy in particular insisted on bringing religion into it and things just degenerated into personal attacks on me. I got myself out of it and allowed him his last little snide remarks. But now he's e-mailing me, calling me a flat-out liar as well as stupid and uneducated and whatnot.
That just steamed me so badly and I have NO place to vent....so I posted my little  as a little pressure-relief valve..... :?

Anytime Judy, sounds like a rough experience, and it's sad when debates can't be just that a good debate. When they turn into an imature fight, it just shows the true colors of the instigator.
Sorry it turned out in such a manner.
Vent anytime, I always have a shoulder for ya!

Thanks Rusty...and all you guys. I knew I could count on you. :)
I have enough stress in my life without willingly walking into it like that...I should have known better!
-
So sorry to hear that Judy, what a jerk. It is good to have a place to vent to people who care. Vent away we all need to at times.
-
::offers Hug:: yeah I love a good debate as much as I despise personal attacks. Especially because I enjoy playing devils advocate I find myself in those types of situations relatively often.... also the fact that my best friend and roomate is right of center and I am a bit left of center on the political spectrum instigates some debate - thankfully we understand the difference between a dialogue and personal attack. After all was it Plato or Aristotle..... well some good old philosopher felt that truth could only be derived from debate or dialectic. That's actually where we get our court stuff from! Personal attack IMO invalidates/ends any potentially interesting debate anyway. You walked away the better person.

Wow, sounds like a real JERK! Why can't some people just agree to disagree? I hope he leaves you alone.
-
Nobody will ever win in an evolution argument, never.
-
I hope so, too, Gen. I haven't decided if I should try to defend myself via e-mail or not. If I don't...then he'll probably leave me alone, thinking he's left me with my tail between my legs. If I do, then he'll probably continue to bother me. I guess I really shouldn't care WHAT he thinks of me, huh?
You're very right, Godfather. And I wasn't trying to "win" anything...just get some questions answered and maybe spark some people to ask a few questions of their own. But these guys did insist on "winning"...at any cost, apparently.

We can all be like Jay and Silent Bob and hunt down this nasty person and beat em up even if they are 12. :D
-
Maybe just shoot him one final e-mail basically stating well - I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. Then just ignore it until it passes that way you've gotten to state something and end the agrument while showing that you aren't with you tail between your legs, just as unconvinced as he is. Yeah you definately don't need to worry what he thinks of you - we all know you're great! If others fail to pick up on that then hey - their loss. :)
-
Thanks, Jonah. Ya'll are so sweet.

LOL! I love that ending hahahah. Also all of you should see Mallrats - be forewarned that there is some strong language some sexual content and a bit of nudity but I swear Kevin Smith writes some of the best dialogue - it's simply hilarious.

Either way, you can't prove anything.
Evolution is a process over millions of years. So bible fanatics ask for conclusive evidence, fossils help. And the fossil evence supports evolutions intensely. But you can't watch a bp give birth to baby bp's who have evolved instantly to have hair. Heck, I could give the world the finger, and then make everyone prove it 100%. Nobody could, no matter how positive the evidence is. Any good debater could shoot holes through any evidence put forth. For this reason religion will always shoot holes through evolution to support the bible.
Religous sides of the argument never need evidence. If you ask for their proof over anything they can't prove. All you'll get is "I have faith, the bible says, I believe" Exactly like evolutionists, they're almost unwavering in their position. I also get in evolution arguments. And depending on what side I'm playing, lol, religous sides tend to do some weird change of subject. They always ask for 100% proof of evolution, impossible. Then they ask where life came from, unknown to us. Then they ask where the universe came from, bout 50% unknown (I could give you all a massive explaination about black holes, big bang, and higher dimensions) then this loop proves their point....I guess.
Religion is really important to people, more so then anything in the world, and it's 100% obvious why. Evolution is flawed, yes, but a wonderful and stable theory. Religion is worth the world to anyone who believes. You can't get anywhere with evolution arguments.
-
BTW, if this threads turns into an argument over which is correct, evolution or creation, it will be locked. It's pointless, and tends to become very heated in about 90% of cases. It'd also be highly offensive.

Dont take to heart what someone says to you when they are not interested in your personal welfare. Its hard not too. Especialy if you value the thoughts and feelings of others, but balance is needed in this regard, since your value as a person is not dictated by the comments of someone whos feathers have been ruffled. Remember even the wisest and meekest of men have been treated with contempt, have been disregarded as foolish, even uneducated by their contemporaries, but wisdom is proven by its fruitage, not by popular thought, or a diploma. There are many grandpas and grandmas that while not concidered highly educated, we would do well to learn at their feet.
-
....wow...thanks Paul. That is a reminder I very much needed. *huggles right back atcha*

I agree with Johah, if you want to email him, say something like that, and maybe add that you will not respond to anymore emails from him. Then hopefully he won't bother.
-
Kudos to you, though, Judy, for voicing an unpopular opinion. It takes courage to do that, especially when you're fairly sure it won't be well-received.
The fact that the guy won't let it go and insists on insulting you only shows HIS ignorance, not yours. Block his email address and don't give him a second thought.
-
And if that doesn't work, post his email addy and we'll give him a piece of our minds. ;)
-
Hehe! Yeah, we'll set him straight.
-
Hehehe....very tempting.
I really do feel much better, guys. Ya'll are truly the greatest!

We're just like siblings who wouldn't recognize one another one the phone or in a crowd. :)

So true!!

Just in case ya'll are wondering...I've decided to NOT write this jerk back. He can go his merry way thinking he's "won" something....but that's only a sad illussion. It wouldn't matter what I said if I wrote him back, he would still find a way to twist my words around to fit whatever preconcieved misconceptions he has about me and convince himself he's the "winner" regardless. He is most certainly not worth the added stress it would bring to invite another e-mail from him.
Thanks for all your support guys...it really means a lot!!
Love ya!!!
-
That's right, Judy - take the high road.
And Marla, you're right - deaf/blind siblings we are - although the photos we posted might help with sight recognition.
-
Judy, I think that's a fine plan. You got to vent here and he thinks he won, so it's good time to end it.
Smynx, they probably would help a bit but I'm afraid Justin is the only one I'm sure I'd recognize because I actually met him. Now if we could get a good group together down in Daytona ... ;)
-
Turn the other cheek, the butt cheek that is
-
Let us know if the Mob has to take care of some "business" for ya Judy! Me, Godsy and Freak(Justin) will pay him a friendly visit!
