Does he look underweight?

First off, my name is Bobby and im new to the site and have a owned a few ball pythons before roughly about 6-7 years ago...got back into it and picked up my new addition about 2 weeks ago....

about a week in he has gone into shedding mode and has refused food on two occasions, im not too worried but i do notice some wrinkling and wanted some second opinions, thanks!

I'd say that wrinkling was just from the shedding rather than anything to worry about. :)

UPDATE:

it looks like its getting worse....would it look like this when shedding? he has darkened a lot and eyes are grey and when he is straightened out hes not as wrinkly but idk:confusd:

That spine is way too pronounced. I'd get him on more food for sure!

The wrinkling is normal but he is a lil thin.

Looks like he's lost a lot of weight but he doesn't look super thin. I would up his food intake if I were you for sure but I don't see any cause for immediate alarm.

He is thin, but he's also in the middle of shed. You need to leave him alone, meaning no handling or attempts at feeding, until after the shed is done. Make sure humidity and temps are good. Once the shed is done, offer a meal...he'll gain weight once he's eating well. Good luck!

Thanks to the wonderful advise petco gave me my guy was a little bit under weight for being about two years old. Once I switched to rats and gave him proper sized meals his weight started to shoot up (petco said adult mice are good and feed two, then got more involved here and learned small rats were what I should have been feeding) so in my non expert/ learning opinion id agree he's a little thin but if anything like mine hell start putting weight on fast once you start trying to add weight. What's he eatting right now mice or smaller rats?

Nice that case id just feed him the size he enjoys and wait for the weight to come back, rats helped my guys weight issues. But I'm no expert someone could come and say I'm wrong but if its just underweight a tad with no underlying illness or something like that it should start coming back. Either way if I'm wrong or right I wish you all the luck in the world with your little guy

What concerns me about this snake is how MUCH weight it's lost. If its that young why did it lose so much weight? Does it have parasites? Has it been regurging? If you got it from a pet store, I'd be looking into health issues for sure.

Also It must have been a rapid weight loss in order for his spine to stick out so much. The wrinkling is probably exacerbated by the fact he's in she's, but it looks more like weight loss wrinkling than dry skin wrinkling. Keep a very close eye!

After a couple of rat fuzzies I'd up his prey size for sure. Or even double up on fuzzies
