    My incubator
Just got done with my incubator. Just need to figure out how to do the fans. Any ideas? http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/14/nedyrugu.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/14/4u6e5u8a.jpg

I do not think you have enough heat tape in there. It should go all the way up the back wall. And you do not want to have any of the egg boxes sitting directly on the heat tape so you'll need to fashion some type of shelf extension on that hump.

The fan should be on the ceiling just in front of the heat tape and blowing down. Don't skimp by using an old computer fan. Spend the money for a new 12v DC fan from Radio Shack. You don't want the fan to fail after the eggs are in.

I plugged it in and the inside temp got up to 110F. That's the last of the 11" flexwatt I have.

That could be enough heat tape.

You might have more even temperatures from top to bottom if you move the flewatt up to the flat wall in the back and place a fan blowing air along its length.

What thermostat do you plan on using?

Only problems are the back wall isn't flat and if I do it from top to bottom the heat tape will cover the hole that the cords are coming through.

You have to test it with the fan and with water bottles and egg boxes inside. The bottom boxes may get hotter than the top. You want it to be pretty even. Within one or two degrees.

I don't have a DC fan yet or any vermiculite so I cant do a full test.

Are the temps 89 across the entire incubator? It would be ideal to stay between 90 and 88...

How would I do that with the door closed?

Im not sure I understand your question. If you dont have a laser thermometer that can give you an instant temp I would suggest placing your thermometer on the bottom, close door, come back in 10 minutes, note temp. Place thermometer in the middle and repeat. Place the thermometer at the top and repeat. Compare your temps....

Yes I have a laser gun. So just open the door and see what the temps are?

Got the fan in I have it blowing up. Should push the hot air up and around.

It should. All setups are different though, the temps are your indicator to know if somethings right or wrong.
