My Favorite Dinker, I Have Faith in Her
Everyone's got them so I figured I'd share my favorite dinker. She is about 1,200 grams but not eating too well right now so I'm trying to get her a little larger before I start pairing her. She looks like a hypo and may very well be. If she is hopefully it's compatible with OG's. If she is something though, I hope it's co-dom. These pictures do not her justice. But I have faith in her.

As of now but I have faith she'll prove out.

Why do you say that?

Looks like a normal to me too. A pretty one with some stuck shed, but definitely a normal.

Stuck shed might be why she's not eating so well, good luck with her :gj:

Not to sound like I am starting an argument with you, because I am not. But not once did I mention otherwise. I did not pick her up as anything but a normal. Now considering where I got her from and the reason he had her makes me think that perhaps it's something else, but that's all wishful thinking as of now. That is why I said she is a dinker, because I plan on breeding to see if anything genetic pops up.
People are quick to blow off "normals" when more and more morphs (some more subtle and "normal" looking than others) are popping up every day. Look at paints, sentinels, low quality mochas, low quality YB/spark/gravels/specter, granite's, and Harlequin. To most those are easy to spot out because now we know what to look for. But before the first person proved some of those morphs, I'm sure there were a few floating around as normals.
Now I am not upset, offended at any of these comments. Nor am I trying to start an argument because everyone has opinion and it has to be respected. But just to make it clear before someone else says it's a normal. I already know she is normal, until proven otherwise, and I hope that she does.
As for the stuck shed, that is how she came in, I haven't messed with her too much because she won't eat. She could also just be adjusting to moved over here so I'm not stressing, but I will definitely be removing that stuck shed soon. Thanks Jerry!
Have a great day and great breeding season! :gj::gj:

I'm of the opinion that people are too quick to think normals are something else! :) and when a normal looks like a normal, any faith they have that something else will proove out is blind! Good luck with the plans tho

That is your opinion and I respect that but ya don't need to rain on my parade :gj:. Thanks for the input.

Thanks Rob, I know she isn't the craziest looking dinker but she is weird enough for me to mess with. Even if she doesn't prove, she will still produce whatever morphs I throw at her from my males. At the end of the day, all I really need are some healthy eggs!

It may not prove out, but the banding she's got would definitely make some funky patterns come up in some offspring. If nothing else, she'll do that for you! Good lucky! :)

I'm not raining on anyone's parade! It's a beautiful royal! Just giving my two cents worth lol :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but by definition isn't a "Dinker" a "wild type" with an interesting pattern or coloration? This is why the term "normal" annoys the crap out of me. Every single morph on the planet, including the legendary Super Banana, started off as a wild type with something about it that caught someone's eye. Granted, there ARE complete noobs who occasionally post the "I just bought this BP from Petco for $79... They said it's a normal, but I KNOW it's a brown eyed leucistic super cinnamon granite coral glow!" Obviously, Dc5 isn't one of those. What he posted was exactly what every big name breeder has thought at some point in his/her career. He's got a python with a unique color and pattern, and he'd like to try breeding her to bring out and intensify those characteristics. If that isn't EXACTLY what a Dinker is all about, then I'll just shut up and go feed some lettuce to my leucistic super cinnamon granite coral glow. Wait til those idiots at Petco see how much money I'll make when I breed her!

You couldn't be more spot on. A dinker is a nothing but a normal, but it's a normal that the breeder thinks has something going on with it. So my dinker is a "normal" with potential, while other's may see it as just a normal.
