Angolan Pythons
What do you guys think of Angolan pythons? What is a good price for a pair of babies? breedable adults?
Are they worth the investment?
-
I love my Angolan, and will be getting his future girlfriend next week (very excited) :gj: I think they're a good investment and I would look at at least 1K for a baby pair on up depending on size. It does take them awhile to mature. When Photobucket gets back up I'll post some pics of my male.

I love angolans! It's damn near impossible to get them up here in Canada, and it's illegal to import them so I really can't help you for pricing. But that is my ultimate goal, is to get my hands on Angolans. Personally, I think once everyone has exhausted the ball python and boa market - this is where people will turn, along with blood pythons. Just my :twocents:

Yet again I'll say it to antagonize Mike but handling an Angolan is awesome feeling, imagine a tiny little cobblestone road and that's what their back scales feel like. I don't have one myself so my experience comes from babysitting my gf's while she cleans tubs and the like.

Off topic a little but I think the carpet market is starting to take off. Every day I see more and more getting into the different localities and their crosses.

The west does have a few! Your right! And there are some in BC. But ZERO that I have heard of in Ontario :( - I think I read somewhere that they import laws have changed in regards to reptiles into the country but I wouldn't even know where to start my research on that.

Re: Angolan Pythons
I saw one female at the last White Plains Show in NY show for $600. It was about two feet long.

Re: Angolan Pythons
I want one!!!! I saw one someone was selling on a Facebook group for like $500, it was an adult male. I had no money though and don't really need anything else to feed rats right now :( One day...

A friend is selling her pair for $1000 and wish I had the cash to spend! I love them!

When I first joined up on here there was a user who'd post gorgeous pictures of her Angolan! Can't remember who it was now (I'll look it up later I'm sure, she stopped posting about six months after that), but I've wanted a pair ever since :D
-
Yearling pairs go for about 1400-1600, hatchling pairs are 1000-1200 from all the research I've done.

In a basket with a little note safety pinned to the blanket? I'm sure we could work out some sort of trade ;)

Don't worry, once the female she just paid for passes quarantine I'll make sure to get a picture of myself holding both at the same time just for you! :gj:
Ed: yes I realize how sad it is that I don't own the snakes used to antagonize you
-
If one of two options work out I will have a pair soon! :D
-
Any more advice about these guys before i buy this pair? Breeding, feeding, caging, selling babies, pricing, market demand etc...
I have done a bunch of research but would like to hear from people who know.

My only, and BEST, advice is to just give them to me....that is all.

Get 'em!! I, too, am in the market. I was going to try to pick up a pair this year, but it's not going to happen - too much other stuff we needed, lol. But this is my next major project/purchase for spring!!
Angolans are awesome - husbandry is about the same as for a BP, although a bit larger enclosure is necessary (they can push 7ft), and the EAT really well!! ;)
-
I will be getting them after Thanksgiving! I will be finally completing my move to Pennsylvania the 24th so I am gonna wait till then to get them. They are just about breeding age/size now so hopefully some babies soon! Well sooner than if I picked up a pair of babies that is.
Courtney, I'm sure we can work out some sort of trade for a baby or two! :D

I've read that they grow and mature slower. These are 2010, not sure when in 2010 though (seller is trying to track down previous owner). I've also read that females are usually ready to breed in about 3 years so if these are early 2010 she should be good to go. If this is not correct feel free to drop some knowledge on me!
Thanks!
