how does one thump a mice and what does it do? How would you fresh kill? I am just curious because if my BP continues not to eat I may try feeding a fresh killed and transition him to f/t.

    We do it thusly, hoss:

Get a couple of grocery-store type shopping bags (not paper) and double bag the mouse (dont want it splitting open trust me)

Make sure there is not a lot of air "bubbling" the bag and making it poofy

Grab it just below the handle and swing hard against a HARD surface (not drywall not wood something like brick or stone)

One blow ought to do it - it might still be twitching but unless you didnt swing hard enough or hit it against a softer surface it ought to just be death twitches.

Seems mean but if you swing hard enough death is instantaneous - don't worry about it unless you find yourself getting something out of it (in that case get your ass to the nearest Dahmer clinic).

Just hold the mouse by the tail and slam him aginst the edge of a shelf, It's usually very quick and more painful for you than him.
Of course I like just to streach them, just grab them by the tail set them on a flat surface and grab them behind the head with two fingers. Pull in opposite directions qiuck and hard and you just severed their spinal cord. No mess, no fuss. It's an art form that may take a time or two to develop.

I bite my mice heads right off while they are still alive. They run around for about 10- 20 sesconds but then they drop. I then take a medical portable caulderizer and caulderize the end of the neck so they stop bleeding. Now I have a big mess on my hands after this, so.... I have to fill my sink up with soapy water. Soak them, scrub them, adn throw in the dryer. After that I get a needle and thread, I reattach there heads, Then throw em under a lamp to warm em up.

    LMAO....

I just take them by the tail and swing them onto the edge of the countertop. They usually are just kinda twitching after that, which is enough for amber to strike. I'll be honest- I really really hate doing that, and as many times as I've done it, I still feel bad in a way every time. Guess that remorse is just what makes us human.

    HAHAHA

You are wasting precious time my friend - wth a variable 440c katana (wakazashi in a pinch) that has been heated to just this side of cherry hot you can sever and cauterize in a single stroke! Once i finish attaching this straight-razor to the soldering iron I think I may have a servicable solution that does not require tedious reheating.

All I do at work all day is kill these stupid things (I work at a reptile center). I find it easiest to just grab them by the tail and knock them against a door molding (not the actual door). This way you can try to aim for the back or neck, rather than the whole mouse hitting the table which doesn't usually kill them; it just stuns them. Try not to crush their skull, it usually just ends up in a bloody mess. Or, like hockey mom said, you can pull their back out of place and sever it. I usualy do this if I knock them out and they don't die the first time. Either way works like a charm and takes a little practice.
