Trouble got a new set up today! It's a big improvement space-wise from the tub she was in (which will now go to the cute little splendida king snake I got last week :D), and since she's a colubrid I don't feel like I'll have to worry as much about the problems of a glass tank (still keeping an eye on everything though, of course). I'm still thinking she can't be a full corn snake - for one thing that's a 40 gallon breeder tank she's in, 3' long. But she was sold to the previous owner as a corn (by a pet store so she could be anything), but she still doesn't look quite like any grey rats I've seen pics of, so she could either be a really pretty grey rat, or a mutt. Either way she's super sweet, and until she figures out how to outsmart the 4 lid clamps she'll be enjoying her new digs~

Bonus: almost everything in this picture was free! I won a raffle at my little local pet store for that 40gal and a ton of reptile stuff. Most of it was more for lizards than snakes but I've put most of it to good use and have friends who will be happy to get the rest of it :D (and yes I know what those fake plants look like, but they were from the raffle and labelled as Abutilon, lol).

Aw sweet! I get most of my tanks second hand, but I always like going through the extra stuff! The brand new things are probably less of a hassle cleaning wise :P Very nice setup and very nice HUGE corn, haha. Thank you for sharing

It was pretty dusty, lol, but way easier to clean than my old fish tanks XD Even that stand I just got today for free (with a 3' cracked beardie cage) thanks to an employee at the same pet store - another customer had come in earlier in the week and left their contact info because they wanted to get rid of the set up. I also got this corn from the same store, lol, the same day she was surrendered. It's a great shop, I can't brag about them enough (Birds and Beasts in Crystal Lake, IL) especially since they keep giving me cool free stuff :D

Nice upgrade for Trouble. I use the Abutilon plants too and all my friends give me grief because it resembles cannabis, haha.
    Great looking Corn.

Her previous owner was saying she's 6'. I don't think she's quite there but not terribly far off. At last weighing she was 998 grams though XD She doesn't have any head pattern, her dorsal pattern hits the back of her head and then just sort of stops lol, that and her size are what make me wonder, although she's definitely got the corn face :D

The enclosure is totally over shadowed by the snake that is a beautiful girl! I looked twice and forgot to check out the enclosure I kept looking at your snake!

Thank you! When I saw her being surrendered at my local pet shop I couldn't even believe it. I'm a bit of an impulse buyer though, so I went home and immediately called one of my friends (who I knew would tell me to go for it XD Getting a second opinion on an impulse buy is at least good in theory lol), then drove right back and bought her. She's got a fantastic curious temperament, no aggression or fear, and might be a better garbage disposal than my boa.

    She's 998g? Surely she isn't that big...corns usually max out between 300-400g...

I'm wondering if she isn't a turbo corn (corn x Pituophis sp.) kinda looks like it to me. She is very beautiful though!

I wouldn't of known it either other than when I was looking into corn morphs I stumbled on a link about hybrids. Then later found out a local guy had one.

Once the weather turns warm again I want to bring her to one of the shows to get some in-person input. Since all I know about her is that her previous owner bought her from a pet store that had her labelled as a regular corn snake (and chain pet stores are of course super reliable), and she's my first non-python/boa, I'm really not sure what she might be.

Here's the top of her head:

She's a nice big anery girl by the looks of it and that setup is perfect for her!
Corns will get that big though it doesn't happen often. Most of them sit between 400-700g when full grown but just like with any other species, there are always the odd ones who get super big or stay little. Also depends on how much you feed them but she doesn't look overly plump to me. Though the pattern isn't the usual cross, some always come out different. I'm not seeing anything that points to a hybrid. If a parent was a hybrid, it's possible that she's getting her size there but all in all, I think you just have a very big, healthy girl. :)
