I am not good with math....lol
I am trying to figure out what 20% of 2700 grams would be, if anyone can tell me what it is, and maybe the best method to use to get the right number, it would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

    540

    2700 x .2 (20%) = 540

I try to break it down by a basic 10%. 270 is 10% of 2700 and then just add 270 to 270 = 540. Kinda weird I know, but I do a lot of math in my head and I always try to break it down as simple as possible.

I do the same thing. Move over the decimal point and then add.

If youre doing this to figure out what size rat to feed, dont go by that rule.

What should I use to judge it then? She's a big girl, so I'm sure she can take down pretty much anything. I just weighed her empty at exactly 2700g. Trying to fatten her up a little so she can make me some babies!!

2700g is plenty big to lay eggs! The 10%-15% rule is really for babies. I'd just feed her a medium rat (or large if she's really thick around).

Yeah I think a large rat is good, she's not too long, so a lot of her weight is girth!!

I feed no bigger than medium sized rats to even 4000 gram females.
    Larges are boa food...

Mine get medium or small. I think weight percentage is for youngsters, not adults.

As what the two above posters have said^, i too agree that rule is just for younger snakes.

I dont follow that rule at all though. I feed one meal a week thats roughly the same size as the fattest part of the snake. For babies ill feed them twice a week sometimes. Also, just bc your snake CAN take down a 300g rat, doesnt mean you SHOULD feed it a 300g rat. Smaller meals more frequently are better imo.

Agreed again. I don't really follow the sizing chart, I just kinda eye ball the size for babies. However my adults, many around 3000 grams, are mostly fed a medium once a week. Some of the big girls are occasionally fed a "retired breeder" rat. But that's only once in a while.

Yea, I was told by someone on here that they stay with medium rats or nothing bigger than 125-130g.

Ok well I ended up getting her a medium rat!!! She pounded it down and seems very happy. The guy at the store tried to sell me a opossum rat, that thing was HUGE, like a small rabbit

At 2700 grams she should give you plenty of eggs (fingers crossed)
