Good luck, and I wish that I could be out there with you! Looking forward to deer camp next year once I'm home from Afghanistan. We'll have 7 family members hunting our 700 acres back in central MO next weekend for the rifle opener.

    Bruce,
With todays technology, I wonder if one of the family members couldn't take a laptop out to the blind with them and set it up so you could watch on skype for an hour or two?

Once your home from Afghanistan if you ever wanna come hunt in northern Minnesota you gotta invite! And 700 acres in Montana sounds like a piece of heaven too me, lol I'm gonna apply to the billings fire department when I'm outta school cuz I would love to live in that state so much to do. And thank you for the luck everyone, for sure best time of year cuz I don't have to worry about work or school my only worry of the day is telling the difference between a deer and a bush :)

I like the cold you can always put more clothes on :) with heat you can only take so much off before you start getting weird looks. That and I have to live where it snows snowboarding is like my passion soon as those lifts get powered up I'm on the hill, just thinking about boarding brings a smile to my face lol

Yes it is a good morning. For me, it's a perfect Saturday morning. I have the trifecta... DD coffee, bo-berry biscuits, and Manchester United vs. Arsenal on the tv. I just wish Arsenal was having a better season...

I hope your last month is a safe one. The first and last months are always the worst for taking hits. The first month, because you are trying to get your guys into the groove, and the last month, because complacency and lack of focus runs rampant...Good Luck... :salute:

Thanks and I'll do my best to stay safe. I have definitely seem some guys with short timer syndrome starting to kick in, especially since our Advon guys have already peaced out and we have more dudes leaving in 3 days.

How is the game going so far?

Have anything walk by your stand yet?

And it still gets cold in MO, Mike. The 700 acres is 600 acres of thick woods and 100 of pasture. My dad has 30 head of longhorn cattle and a ridiculous amount of deer. He's been seeing a lot of bucks this week so the pre-rut has arrived and has been seeing the same tall, but narrow 8 behind the cabin on a doe for the past week, not to mention a lot of does/fawns behind the cabin as well. The terrain is very rugged and pretty much all steep ravines and is great for the deer. Where are you hunting at?

iPhones need longer lasting batteries and I'm hunting up on the iron range if you know where that's at. And sadly nothing yet but lots of shooting out here and I switched stands to my afternoon one and lots of shooting happening like two football fields away across the road so they can come to me when ever now.

Man, that is beautiful! What is a close town so I can google maps it? Good luck, blast a big one! Are you trophy hunting or meat hunting (or both)?

More meat hunting gotta feed my self and my parents and my sisters family so we need a few lol. And if you google Makinen Minnesota that's where I'm at right now and I grew up in Gilbert Minnesota. And I love the woods specially since I live in Duluth now I realize how much of a country boy I really am lol but ya it's beautiful up here riding four wheeler thru the woods is one of the funniest things you can do with your pants on around here specially when you get into the mud cuz it has a orange tint to it cuz of all the iron ore in the ground.

I always manage to come back with more squirrels than deer. When I'm out waiting for deer, and those squirrels are chattering in the trees, I just know they are laughing at me...

Haha yes you think that too! I picture them pointing and laughing while telling the deer where I'm at. I never shoot them tho I'd make too much noise in the process. The guys across the road are being drunk ****s since they got a couple deer already today :( idk how trashed people get so lucky.

They should be arrested if they're hunting drunk. Good luck next weekend I guess, man!

I still got tomorrow so hoping its a better day. And far as arresting people for hunting drunk doesn't really happen up here out where I hunt is so far into the back woods the cops never go there, after they finished shooting their fawns (i heard them arguing about the size of two of their deer and from the discription i could piece together they were no bigger then dogs) they started I believe target practicing least I hope that's what it was since they shot a ton of bullets and would hoot and cheer after almost every shot. It wouldn't be so annoying if their cabin wasn't right across the road from stand #2 I mean I for sure understand having a fun time just some people take it too far. Sorry kinda long winded :( I try and type less but I ramble. I hope you have a safe and productive day over there (I think it's morning there now)

Haha I went to high school in Eveleth Gilbert (graduated in 07)I was a golden bear didn't play hockey tho only football, I'm one of the only iron rangers you'll meet that can't skate to save his life lol but far as being beautiful yes sir it is forget it at times specially growing up around here. When were you at UMD? I've only been in duluth three years now I'm going to LSC I like it cuz the fire college is so small.
