    Trunk or Treat
So my church puts on a Trunk or Treat every year for kids in the lower class neighborhoods to come to and get candy. I decided to dress up this year! Almost all the older ones got it lol. Can YOU guess?!

Where instead of going doing to door, kids walk around a parking lot and get candy from open trunks. Absolutely absurd, if you ask me.

I have actually never heard of trunk or treat before this year when someone told me about while we were going door to door. I saw one at a church on the way home and my daughter got a kick out of it because the cars were decorated like houses. It was a nice stop because it was wet and cold outside and she was able to pick up a good chunk of more candy with little time or effort, as well as a hot cocoa with marshmallows :) I got stuck with the sales pitch and two handouts so not too bad overall!

Mike you are correct! I was in police academy....the standards are lowering! Haha. If you guessed Lt. Dan you are correct! We don't do sales pitches. We stick a pamphlet in the sacks but that's it. We do it because our church is in a very poor neighborhood and it lets the kids have somewhere to go to be able to get candy and play games. I would indeed like some ice cream!

We would do trunk or treat when we would go off roading. The kids would love it, and when the kids went to bed the adults loved it too.

Maybe if it's a bad neighborhood with a lot of crime. Overall, doing it just makes me think they're too lazy to walk around for an hour or two.

I think its more the first part. Theres alot of neighborhoods *I* wouldnt feel comfortable trick or treating in. Let alone taking the children, that i dont have, to. New Haven comes to mind, i think that was the #5 city with the most homicides in the US lol.

Not really. The local town I go to to get the mail is doing it. There's maybe 500 people and absolutely no crime. Just screams laziness.

I would tend to agree with you then. In that situation it does seem kinda foolish. If my town did that id feel the same way lol.

Especially considering the two towns that are no more than 10-15 minutes away on either side, both host massive trick or treats down main street.

Can you guys say underprivileged instead of low class please? Can you also replace it in your thought process? Thank You.

I'm not pointing fingers, nor am I offended, I promise. I'm only passing wisdom that was once passed to me, and in a kind question format. I thought that I replied to the thread. If that replied directly to you Raptor then you should know it was unintentional.

In which case, the person who passed on the wisdom needs to stop being so easily offended.

I have to say I am a little sad, you don't like Forrest Gump. You really need to watch it from beginning to end before you decide you don't like it.

And guessed Lt. Dan before I scrolled down and read it, yay me.

    I got the guess right.

    Let the hijacking begin...
If someone who falls into the lower class category is offended by the term used to describe their position, then tough crap. Also, replacing lower class with underpriveledged is ridiculous. It is this sense of entitlement and the thought that being successful and having a comfortable life is a priveledge that is one of the sources of the problem for the lower classes in the first place. Having money ins't a priveledge that some people get and some people dont (the "underpriveledged"), but is a direct result of a combination of someones intellignece level and how hard they are willing to work in life. Underpriveledged my butt. Maybe lazy, uneducated/ignorant or both, but not underpriveledged. I also refuse to use the term undocumented immigrant when referring to an illegal alien in this country. Google the definition of the words alien and illegal - it is an accurate description.

Mike and raptor. It is a very poor neighborhood with the highest crime in my city. We just do it to provide a safe place to go. Also being such a poor neighborhood, most homes around there can't afford to buy candy to pass out. That stuff is freaking expensive!

Yea thats what we figured. It applies there perfectly then. She just meant she thought its absurd that her town is doing it, or if any other town similar (like mine lol) were to do something like that. I think its a great thing in that context!

Now, you wouldn't believe it if I told you, but I can run like the wind blows. From that day on, if I was going somewhere, I was running.
