Asking for your blessings and prayers!
My son has a disease called Fanconi's Anemia. It's a disease that results in bone marrow failure at a very young age. We've know this was coming since the time he was born, but the time has finally come. He and my wife are leaving for the University of Minnesota on the 6th. He will be getting blood test and other things for a couple weeks. Cause I can only afford a month of leave I won't be arriving until 2 days before chemo and radiation start. This happens to be two days before Thanksgiving. He will receive the transplant on November 30th. I will be able to stay 3 weeks longer but my son and wife will have to stay 100 days longer. During this whole time he will be isolated to his hospital room. We lucked out and were able to convince our insurance to let us have the transplant in Minnesota. The alternative they offered was a hospital in LA that has a 70% survival rate out of a total of 12 patients ever. Where we are going has a 92% survival rate out of a 150+ patients per year. So at this point all I ask for are your prayers, your well wishing a and your blessings! I also ask that if you can get on the bone marrow list so you can help people like my son, please do. Thank you.
    My son with his sister!

Positive on its way to you.

I did chemo and a bone marrow transplant last year. My little mantra isn't really child appropriate, grow you little mother....ers grow, but the image of little machines making new little machines that would then go to work keeping me healthy, nanites sort of, was one I used a lot. If he's old enough, maybe something like that'll help him out too. Attitude is REALLY important.

Don't give up and don't give in.

Are you active duty military? If so, can you not get con leave once you run out of regular leave to go be with your son? Or is the month of leave already con leave? I'm so sorry tohear about this, and while I am a non-believer and won't be sending up any prayers know that I am hoping for the best outcome for you and your family. I have two sons, 4 and 6, and your son looks just like my nephew when he was younger. Best of luck and kick this thing in the ass!
