    Chocolate Sable Compatibility
I have long since thought that these two genes would be compatible, but had to know for sure. They are, and here is the group I just hatched.

    I 2nd this question ...

Definitely looks like it should be the compound heterozygous (allelic sable/chocolate "super") animal, but I'm still curious to see if breeding trials do confirm that ... Mainly because of the issues with sable combos and supers that I haven't quite heard of in chocolate combos (unless I'm just niave of them, which is entirely possible).

Also, the upper-middle guy looks a little different from the others -- looks to me like he might have some mojave in there ..? -- or am I just seeing things?

    Looking good either way!

    BOOM.

Re: allelic, can't know for sure until you breed the combos. If you get only chocolates and sables from a combo x normal pairing, then it's probably allelic. Any normals or combo babies resulting would mean it's not.

Whoo hoo!!! So glad someone finally tried this! I have a female sable

and recently saw a REALLY NICE male chocolate for sale but passed him up because I did not need another project so similar to the sable. My decision would have been different if I had any indication that the genes were compatible. Thank you!

Tim, was the breeding super sable to super chocolate?

I've been thinking this for awhile. I bet it's allelic looking at the snakes produced. Thanks a bunch for posting Tim.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but I have been out of town since early Sunday morning.

I believe they will prove to be allelic, but this is the first step to finding out. However, someone posted elsewhere that they had done this last year, so it may already been proven, but just hasn't been documented publicly (unless I missed it).

No Mojave in there at all. However, I do plan to plug that in here somewhere, as I love the Mojave Sables, and think it would look even neater.
