1st thing i thought when i saw it was fire due to the blushing and the head. belly pics would help just to rule out yellowbelly

Me neither, those pics aren't good. Almost looks like maybe some stuck shed too, from a wierd sheen on parts of the snake?

ill let him settle for a couple days, just got him tonight and will be totally frustrated if he is normal. Doesnt look normal to me but? im trying to understand the fire gene and pics are all different I have a hard time trying to compare him to the many fire varieties on the net. I have a bumble bee and was thinking fire is a great to put with her.

It looks similar to this picture. Someone is selling this BP listed as a MOJAVE. Can any mojave owners confirm what this is? Just to be on the safe side.

OP: I think better pics would help, but regardless of morph I see a skinny BP. Really needs to fatten up.

To the OP, definitely a fire.

    Thank you

Maybe not a great one, but probably worth the 100$ being asked for it. It's a 2011 male. I'm gonna start looking for a female mystic now. MYSTIC POTION here I come!(in a year or two)

Yes the snake from the OP is a fire. Maybe not an outstanding one, but a fire nonetheless. Given some good care, I bet it will be a very lovely animal. It is certainly better quality than some I have seen. You can tell at first glance it's a fire if you know what you are looking for. Or at. I have two, I've seen many more, and I knew instantly that was a fire.

The mojave is definitely a mojave.

The first picture, I'm not sure. There's a pretty nice bit of blushing on the head there... what do they say, yellowbellies have a "Y" on their heads? Better head pics and a belly pic would help.

I would disagree, especially if you are looking to breed. There are so many mojaves out there right now you wouldnt pay too much more for a higher quality one, especially a male. Youll thank yourself later when youre not having to sell you babies for next to nothing to compete with all the high quality animals out there.

Both aren't great examples of their morphs. I wouldn't pass on that mojave. If you're going into breeding, then you want to find the best looking snakes you can. Not necessarily the best prices.
Good examples will produce beautiful offspring. Ugly ones will just muddy up the gene pool and make ugly babies....

Just because they come from the same place, doesn't mean their wont be issues.

What if after your first purchase the breeder got mites or his snakes got sick? Well, you just infected both by placing them together.

Quarantine is an important procedure. Then again, when you only have 2 snakes, it might not seem that important ;)

    wow nice to be criticized
all I wanted to know is regarding the morphs? They were together, I picked them up together, what part of this dont we understand? I come on a forum for a question and in the hopes to get help with one thing and now Im being criticized about things that I had nothing to do with. If this is what this forum is all about then I guess Ill remove myself from here. Thanks for adding to my lovely day and mabe people should get some facts before ridiculing

Deep breath. Criticism and advice are two different things. No one was laying into you, just offering advice.

I think people jump to conclusions a lot but I also think you may be overreacting a little. What people write sometimes doesn't always convey what they truly meant. There are people who come on here and don't know about quarantine or why it is important. It also wasn't 100% clear that you got them at the same time, the first time you didn't even mention you got her from the same person and the second time when you said you got them from the same person you didn't specify that you got them together. A lot of people will buy from the same breeder multiple times. I myself have purchased snakes from several breeders multiple times. No one was trying to attack or criticize you, they just jumped to conclusions based on the information given.

As for the original question, I do agree that he is a fire, but not the best quality one.

    Thanks to the positive remarks
I'm in a better mood today to try not to take things personally. Anyways that was the first night I had him. Since then we got the incomplete shed off. How do you all take accurate pics that colours come out true? I've tried iPad, phone, camera and to be honest his color and none of my other snakes ever seem to look the same as any pics I've taken. I guess only time will tell when it comes to quality.

Completely agree, I've seen some really nice mojo's for great prices, there's no point in being cheap and taking all the time to raise him just to have something sub-par. Don't be cheap! :)

The best way i can get true color is taking pics outside during the day with no flash.

Even if it's too cold outside. Open up the blinds/curtains of a window and take some pictures on the floor in a patch of sunlight. At least that is some natural light.
