I don't really care for spieds either so I would go with the enchi this year. But down the road you have got to go for the killer bee enchi pied. That would be an amazing animal especially with the enchi bringing pattern back into the pied.
You have the ingredients just have to mix them up the right way. Good Luck Kinra.
That sounds like an awesome project that actually makes me want to take my pied to the bumblebee this year. If I got a female from the pairing I could hold her back and then in about 2 years take my pastel pied to my pastel enchi holdback from this year and hopefully get a nice male I could breed to the female. :D
But I wanted to take my enchi to my bumblebee for a male enchi bumblebee that I could then bred to my pastel calico female. I have too many projects I want to do I can't decide what to do first. :weirdface

Just go with the one that you think will satisfy you the most and get your collection to where you want it to be. Good Luck and don't forget about me when you have some awesome het pieds available. ;)
I really think I'm going to do pastel pied X bumblebee this year. Enchi combos are hot, but I got my pastel enchi this year and the only 100% het pied female I have is just a het pied, nothing special going on there. I am hoping my pastel yellowbelly will prove out to be het pied for me so I can get some cool pieds this season. :D

I'm not really a fan of spieds
Looks like you pretty much answered your own question ;)
If you were into Spieds I would say start with the long term project first (Pastel Pied to Bee) but since you have no interest in them just go with what YOU like.
Producing something cool is only really cool if you like it :gj:

You have a valid point. If enchi gene does bring more pattern to a spied I may try for that in the future. I think I do want to try for a enchi bumblebee and I may try for a double sired clutch with my pastel yellowbelly because bumble bellies are hot too. :P
I think I will probably take the pastel pied to my lemon pastel and shoot for super pastels 100% het pied to holdback. Sometimes I think I have too many snakes and times like these make me wish I had more. :P
My pastel calico should be ready to breed next year and I want a nice combo male that has spider in it to breed with her, I think I am going to make that priority #1.
Re: Not sure what to do...
Isnt it a bit early for a late 2011 male to breed this year?
How big is he?

He's about a year old and I don't have a current weight but he was almost 300g 3 months ago. I don't plan on starting to pair until Jan/Feb, so even if he isn't big enough when I get him at the start of next month he should be by then. I start breeding my males young and pull them from breeding if they stop eating. Last year my enchi started breeding for me when he was about 450g and was my best breeder. He didn't stop eating at all while I was paring him. I've also heard of people paring males as young as 6 months and 300-350g. That being said I'm pretty sure he will be breeding for me this winter.
