new rescues: 3 corns..
Glad they are in great hands now.....At least now they will have a chance to survive. The person or persons that had these corns should be court ordered to never be allowed to own a snake or other critter ever again.
-
Man, that sucks. I hate to see animals in such bad condition. I hope you can get them back to full health, Rusty! Keep us updated on their progress.
-
How can you let any animal suffer like that? I'm just glad that those animals are in a place where they will hopefully be nursed back to health. Good Luck Rusty!!!
-
OMFG! Those are some skinny snakes! We should press charges
-
That's so sad. They obviously didn't get that way overnight. I hope you'll be able to save them, Rusty.
-
Those poor things! Their luck has definitely turned for the better, though! I'm sending happy little, full-tummy, healthy, snakey thoughts their way!

I second those thoughts!

Thanks all for the great support, all three have eaten, slowly for the skinny male "snow". But blood work came back good, just very malnourished, It will take sometime, but we have high hopes for them.
As for starved snakes, yes it takes a very long time for someone to strave a snake to death. Beleive it or not, two years ago I rescued a poor albino burmese python female, she was approximately 9 feet long. She only weighed 5.46 lbs!!!!! She died that evening, but I will never forget her. beautiful animal.
It is very sad, and I can never comprehend it. sadly their is no animal cruelty issue for me to thouroughly pursue unless one of the animals passes, then a very small slap on the wrist will happen. Theuir have been cases where I was able to get media attention involved, and then (and only then) something was done about it. It can be very stressfull dealing with the legality issues of it all. But in the end we hope for the best for the animals.
Thanks for letting me babble
Rusty

Sweet jeebus that's awful! Hats off to anyone who works to help those neglegted herps recuperate, cutting a share of your time money and heart for their well-being. Best wishes with all your charges, Rusty.
-
That poor burm Rusty! That's terrible! I am glad to hear lab work on these guys came back good, tho. At least there's hope, and it's certainly encouraging that they are eating. Keep us updated on their progress.

Keep us posted Rusty, your doin good work helpin mistreated herps.

Proper way to measure.
UPDATE:
three corns still alive. Two are eating well. The female corn and female "candy cane" corn are doing great. The Male albino is still regurging a bit. We have to keep him extremely quiet and wait it out. He was pretty emaciated, but at this point he is as rehydrated as possible, now it's up to him.
Thanks
Rusty

Plisskens First Rat!!!
Thank you so much for these updates, Rusty! It means a lot to hear such positive reports!
-
Glad to hear it, Rusty. I hope the male's system is able to get used to eating and digesting again, but if not you know you've given him every opportunity and the failure is on the part of the people who starved him.
-
Pictures:
Good news to hear Rusty, let us see pics of them all fattened up so we can be amazed at your powers. https://ball-pythons.net/modules/cop...owdown%7E0.gif

Thanks guys,
I'll post pics soon, I don't think they look much different(but then again I see them all the time), the male albino doesn't, he's on our list of constant checks, he is just having such a hard tinme keeping em down. But I'll post some pics soon for ya!
Thanks again
Rusty

what are you trying to feed him? seems like being starved that much would be real tough to come back from. i really hope he gets better.
-
p.s. how hard is it to keep an animal when all it needs is water, heat, and food a couple times a month. my 3 year old cousin could do better then that. the case should be the same in court whether its anything from a little mouse to a horse and even a snake. whats the difference? the same cruelty and neglect is going on. people need to be punished just the same. stupid society and their need to give snakes a vicious horrible rep. thats what it all comes down to. grr.
-
Rusty,
I think I can speak for most of us here when I tell you that we appreciate what you do. It takes a lot of time, effort, and money to take care of these creatures that you have taken in hoping to find them a better situation.
My hat is off to you and to everyone like you.
Thanks for all you do, and keep up the great work.
-
Hi all,
Here is a more recent picture of the emciated male:
https://ball-pythons.net/modules/cop...08/Cnv0075.jpg
The albino female was rehabbed quick enough to already be placed, so she found a great home. The Candy cane corn (or whatever you may want to call it) will most likely be adopted by a school.
And the starved male is eating well, and keeping meals down. It will take him a bit longer as expected. But he is showing great progress so far.
Just thought I would update you
Thanks
Rusty

VERY encouraging news! I expect they'll all live out safe and contented lives, now. :D
-
Great to hear it! I knew if anyone could do it, you could.
-
I AM SO xxxxxxx PISSED OFF RIGHT NOW!!!! WHOEVER WOULD BE SICK ENOUGH TO LET THAT HAPPEN TO ANY ANIMAL SHOULD BE STARVED TO NEAR DEATH THEMSELF!!!!!

OK, I am truly sorry for the profanity. Those pictures just really set me off. Rusty, please keep us updated on how they are doing. I truly hope that everything works out.

I am glad to hear that he's doing well! I was worried when I read that he was regurging, but now he's keeping food down? You absolutely rock. :)
-
Whatever evil people did that to those poor defensless snakes deserves to be barred up and never fed! What an a$$hole!
-
Hi all,
Well here's what you came to see:
The most emaciated out of the three now looks semi normal:
https://ball-pythons.net/modules/cop...08/Cnv0190.jpg
As you can tell better in this second picture by his "stargazing" apearence, he was so emaciated for so long that he become neurological:
https://ball-pythons.net/modules/cop...08/Cnv0192.jpg
He eats well enough and has only a little more weight to gain.
The second:
https://ball-pythons.net/modules/cop...08/Cnv0193.jpg
She is doing very well, The school that was interested in adopting her was declined, so she is still here with us. I'm sure she will find a home soon, she has a great little face.
Thanks
Rusty

I'm actually adopting a snow corn and red tail in a few weeks.
Also, you misspelled "Arachnids".
-
They look wonderful! As always, great job, Rusty!!
-
