new ball wont enter hide

Hey guys, i got my baby ball today and have had him in his tank for about 4 hours. i put him in at room temperature then slowly heated up the tank, now its at the optimal temperatures. since he has been in the tank it has slithered around a bit, gone into the water bowl, and for the last hour has just kind of laid in the towards the back of the tank. he has yet to enter either hide. any possibly reason for this? or am i just being overly concerned. thanks!

Can you post a picture of the tank? how big is the hide in relation to the snake? What type of hide is it?

The hides are 6" little flower planters with doors cut into them. The snake is probably 12-14" long

Sounds like the hide might be too big

Hmmm ok. My friend has a similar sized snakes with the same hides and his snake loves them

WI had to get a new hide for my boa because he outgrew his old one. It was a differently style then his old one and he refused to use it but as soon as I got one that was like his old one only bigger he went straight to into it. Not saying that is what your python is doing because I don't know but it might be worth trying to find a hide like his old one only larger.

Then again my boa is kind of a fussy.

my Lesser boy likes to sit on top of or behind his hides. Only occasionally do I see him in them. He also likes to redecorate and move his hides all around his tub.

Ya mine has been behind the hides in some moss. He seems to like it there a lot

I also got a new little girl today and I am having the same problem...Is yours using the hide yet and how big is your tank/tub?

He is using the hides now, its a 10 gallon tank

Mines still not using hers but im sure she will.

They may just not like the hide to be honest. My Mojave really only uses his when he is in shed. Other than that he sits on top of it or next to it.

I got my ball the same day you did, and anytime i check up on him, i never seem him out of his hide. Makes me happy
