AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol how long have you had them?
-
Pandora was my first in May of this year,
Freyja,Odin and Calypso in June,
Cthulhu in July.
Nova, Aurora, Andromeda and Kronos in September.
As you can see the Ball Python hobby is very addicting lol.
I got my First in may and by October I now have 9 and the tenth is coming soon.
-
First snakes, Monty and Ember, were named on a whim. Ember seemed fitting because she's such a bight blushy pastel, and Monty... well, Monty the python :P Happened to be watching the Holy Grail recently when I got him. Not the most original but I love him
Nova, my fire, was also sort of on a whim. I liked how it sounded and for fire combos it seemed like it would work
Stevie and Ray, my eyeless additions, are for Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles (though Stevie is a female, I don't think she really cares)
-
Re: What did you NAME YOUR BP AND WHY?
I know you wanted just BPs...but I'll include my cornsnakes as well because some of them have some interesting/nerdy stories behind them.
Starting off with my BPs:
Fluffy (normal) - I acutally rescued her. There was a girl who stopped her neighbor from letting her go in the front yard. That girl then gave her to me because she didn't like snakes, but she didn't want it thrown outside in the summer heat to die. When she gave her to me, she asked if I could keep her name Fluffy and I said I would. Now, I wouldn't even dream of naming her anything else.
Charlotte (spider) - Everyone needs a spider ball python named Charlotte from the movie Charlotte's Web.
Jax (lesser) - no reason. It just popped into my head on the way home from the ETHS Expo
And now for the cornsnakes:
Severus (snow motley) - Everyone needs a 'Severus Snake' Sadly, my Severus turned into a girl one day....
Anuna (bloodred) - I write on RPGs (don't ask) and one of my friend's characters is named Anuna.
Travis - I bought him from Travis Whisler and labeled his cup "Travis" so I could remember who I purchased him from. While I was talking to Sam from BHB at the NARBC in Arlington, she asked if I had named him Travis. Since then...it stuck.
Callie - She's a Miami Corn and my buddy is a HUGE fan of CSI: Miami so he asked me to name the snake Calleigh (not sure of the original spelling) after the hot actress. So, I obliged and changed the spelling.
FNU - I bought her in August at the NARBC and never really named her. So, I've been calling her FNU (pronounced fa-nuu) which stands for "First Name Unknown"
-
Snakes:
Tsunami - has a cresting wave shape in his pattern
Dotty - has a lone black dot (1/4'' diameter) in the middle of her neck just behind her head.
Rio - brazilian rainbow boa, seemed appropriate
Raul - brazilian rainbow boa, seemed appropriate
Kitty - coastal carpet python, sounded funny
Tesla - DJJ sibling carpet python, because she's ELECTRIC!
Lemonpepper ("Lemmy" for short) - DJJ sibling carpet python, Got some great yellows and blacks, with tipping
Six Shooter - Western hognose, going with "western film" themes, and she has a 6-dot pattern just behind her head
Sitting bull - albino western hognose, again going with "western film" themes
Sweetheart - red blood python, she gave me a "snake kiss" on our first meeting.. lol
Crested geckos:
Sandy - yellow and sand colored
Dr. Zoidberg - red, and I like futurama references
Peanut - just a nice, brown crested gecko, plus she was cute and petite when I got her
Pongo - Dalmation
RG - short for both "radioactive gecko" and "red gecko", because I was uninspired
Accident - because I ended up taking the wrong gecko home through a series of mistakes on both parties, and ended up buying him too
Other:
Skittles - Blue bar ambilobe Panther chameleon, name should be self-explanatory
Morbo - Ornate horned frog, again a futurama reference
Pazuzu - gargoyle gecko, again a futurama reference
Sallie - tiger salamander
Callie - female cat, calico
Tux - male cat, black and white tuxedo
-
My only BP was named Volvagia, a Boss in Ocarina of Time (Legend of Zelda)
However, (if you want/can see my old thread asking for votes on names) I'm a big Greek/Roman/Nordic Mythology freak as well, and I'm slightly ashamed to admit that some of the names I was planning for my next baby, reptiliachnids has already used them.
-
1 normal bp- Snake Snake Snakey Snake- I gave my three year old son exclusive naming rights.
-
Vegas - She's a lesser with really high contrast yellow, so it reminded me of big city lights.
Autumn - Bumblebee we bought a few days after autumn began.
Drako - Spider, one of my boyfriend's favorites. I love Harry Potter and Dragonheart (I think that's what it's called) was one of his favorite movies when he was a kid. Just changed up the spelling.
Java - Pinstripe, her color reminded me of coffee.
Saber - There was a horse at one of my old barns named Saber, and he was always one of my favorites, so I stole his name.
Loka - Spider, and the pattern on her head looks like Marvel's Loki with his helmet with the spikes coming out of it. Just put an 'A' at the end to make it more feminine.
Indi - Just like the name
Flair - Mojave girl that's really high contrast. She has flair :P
Bayne - Our big cinny boy. Named after Bane from Batman because he's also a big beastly thing.
Ekko - Just liked the name
Tex - Our pastave, and mojo's just remind me of the desert, which reminds me of Texas.
Raja - Not a ball, she's my BCI/Red tail boa. Rojo means red in spanish, so I just switched the O's to A's to make it feminine. Although I do pronounce it like raw-ja, not raw-ha. Dropped the spanish there haha.
-
Monty - my Normal & my first snake, name came pff the top of my head.
Fred - my Mojave, named in honor of Fred Weasley from Harry Potter.
Sent from my piece of crap phone via Tapatalk
-
Nico, my normal - Nico diAngelo is one of my favorite characters in the Percy Jackson series, and he happens to be the son of Hades, God of the Underworld. How perfect is that?
Vinnie, my pinstripe - Honestly the name just came to me one day. Usually names do that with me. I went to get him out for some good socialization time and Vinnie popped in my head. :)
Jezebel, my cinnamon female - Well, I want her eventually to be the beginning of a small time breeding program when she's if age. The brothel in "The Handmaid's Tale" was called "Jezebel's". Need I say more? :D

-
Henna - lesser pastel girl. When we brought her home from Daytona expo my nephew (autistic, doesn't speak much) came up to her and quietly said "the snakes name is Henna" and walked away smiling. Who am I to argue with that?
Our Mojave boy is technically unnamed.. but we've been referring to him as mojo since we put the down payment on him...I have a feeling mojo is going to stick lol
"Izzy" short for Isabella, our big normal girl. She was named Isabella when we got her, but they referred to her as Bella. We know a bella and would rather not associate her with our snake, so Izzy it is!
Enchi boy we don't have him yet, but my daughter wants to name him jaguar. Jag for short. Because of his colors and pattern remind her of a jaguar. (I'm not complaining. Last time she wanted to name a snake she wanted it called princess celestia lol)

Re: What did you NAME YOUR BP AND WHY?
I've got 2 girls. One is much darker than the other. I originally thought she was a Black Pastel that turned out to be a normal so I named her DARKSIDE. My other normal girl I named THUNDERKISS because it's just awesome. My male I named RAZOR because my father helped me pick him out and he said his color pattern was sharp. Can't wait to get more and give them great names.
-
well once i get mine...ill post pics lol
-
Tom/Thomas- my daughter named him and her favorite cartoon is tom and Jerry.
The 2 corn snakes are Little Love Bug and Slither. These are my daughter's snakes so she got to pick names by herself. She will not get to name any future siblings like she is hoping!
-
Re: What did you NAME YOUR BP AND WHY?
I don't really have names for my snakes but rather I have given them nicknames. People look at me like I am crazy because I have nicknames for my snakes, but who really cares what others think of me.
-
All of my reptiles have names, but I'll just go through the BPs. :P
Lily - pretty random, she was my first BP and it just seemed to fit
Houdini - when I got him I was still using tanks and he spent every night looking for a way out
Bonnie & Clyde - this is my pair of spotnoses and I was looking for names that went together, I landed on Bonnie and Clyde
Aphrodite - I named her before I even saw her, but the name fits because she has a perfect heart on the back of her neck
Bella - Again the name just seemed to fit, so she's Bella the butter :D
Nova - she is super nice ph caramel glow and she does seem to glow
Isis - I think at this point I start going through the alphabet and I liked that name and didn't have snake who's name began with that letter
Kali - I love the name and decided it should go to my first bee which was my first dream snake :D
Zar - short for Balthazar, but I really like shortening to Zar, it helps that he's a little monster
Ella - I was looking for an E name
Jacey - I gave my sister a letter and she picked the name
Delmi - I forget what it means but I was looking for a D name
Pascal - she's a pastel and I let a little girl name her around the time the movie Tangled came out
Marri - I was looking for an M name
Vega - I was looking for a V name (you see a pattern yet :P)
Rose - No real reason there, it just seemed to fit
Godric - I'm a Harry Potter nut and Salazar didn't seem to fit him
Ithaca - My sister named this one
Yasmine - I liked the way it sounds and I needed a Y name
Xena - because she's awesome! She's a super nice adult bee.
Stella - because she's just amazing
Mist - was a suggested name, she's a pewter, Storm might have fit her a little more, but I liked Mist
Wilma - no real reason here
Quincy - no reason with this one either
Peter - my sister named this one
Venus - I decided my pied project would have Roman/Greek God/Goddess names
Ares - He's part of the pied project
Zeus - part of the pied project
Confetti - part of my clown project
still unnamed:
woma het hypo
pastel enchi
enchi
pewter ph clown
-
Obviously, name threads are popular, lol.... :D
I just choose names I like - some just sound good, some have special meanings, and some are kind of corny. But they were all picked to suit the animal's personality. My reptiles all have a reference number too, but they are primarily identified by their name.
Snakes:
Ella - female normal BP and my first, a rescue. Wanted something elegant for an animal that is often not viewed as elegant.
Noah - male mojave BP. He came with this name and I liked it so I kept it. It suits him.
Hunter - male GTP. He came with this name too, but it fits him perfectly. I'd have named him that if I'd thought of it myself.
Jasper - male hypo boa. A little corny for a goofy boy.
Mojo - male Argentine boa with major cajones and attitude. Name says it all with him.
Roslin - female Argentine boa and Mojo's future girlfriend. She needed a name to keep up with Mojo.
Pandora - female sunglow boa. A name as exotic as she is.
Peaches - my first boa and the snake that sparked my interest in breeding and pursuing reptiles as more than a pet hobby. Named after my dad. He hates snakes, but always supported me in everything I did as a child. His nickname for me was Peaches.
Geckos:
Humphrey - male Leachie. A dumpy name for a dumpy (and soft and squishy ;) ) gecko.
My only theme - the cresties are all named after herbs and spices...
Hops - male crowned tri-color harlequin
Barley - male creamy harlequin
Saffron - female cinnamon and cream full pinner
Chai - female golden tiger
Juniper - female black and cream harlequin
-
Bee male - Rorschach
Bee female - needs a name
Pied male - needs a name
Pied female - needs a name
Hognose female - Cassie
lol
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/17/mu3u7y3y.jpg
Named him Rorschach (google him) because his head markings look like an ink blot.
Named our female hog Cassie because I love that name.

Re: What did you NAME YOUR BP AND WHY?
Royal Python- Pastel- Female-- Name= Khaleesi... Which means Queen in Dothraki... Game of Thrones reference
Royal Python- Pinstripe- Female-- Name= Daenery's... Khaleesi's real name until she becomes the Khaleesi! Pretty big Game of thrones fan :)
-
Ball Pythons:
Normal - Phineas (The main Character from my favorite book 'Kiss Me Judas')
Spider - Mr. Tribbles (Not really sure why... but it fits him)
Nicaraguan boa - Lestat (From the Anne Rice book/movie)
Red Tail Boa - Maleficent (My favorite character out of all the disney movies)
-
Titan- I was watching wrath of the titans at the time so not very inspired.
Azrael- When we first got him he was kinda evil and acted like he wanted to kill me. so I named him after the archangel of death.
Twizzler- He likes to twist himself in funny shapes, so I named him Twizzler.

My new albino ball is still unnamed however i'm thinking Halloween themed and either jack (nightmare before Christmas) or Grimm
My first ball, normal: Poe -for Edgar Allen Poe
My albino corn: Dante he has a fire pattern up his side and he's cranky.
My Beardie is valcore: someone kept yelling falcore from the never ending story when they found out he was a dragon so I named it a little.
My box turtle, panzer: he ate likea tank when we first (and since) fed him, and my husband is military
Columbian tegu: Achilles because herps are my Achilles heal
Tiger legged frog: :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r:ord from arrested development, he's neither heard nor seen..
The dogs are another story, but i'm already way off ball pythons.... :-)

Why is mil...ford censored?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk 2
-
Because of the "mil...f" part, probably. I dunno..
het. ghost "Indy", It's a simple, bi-gender name, and she has the sweetest little face..

-
Name threads are always great, haha.
Ball Pythons:
Sekhmet - she was a hateling as a baby, literally threw herself off my bed trying to bite my friend the day we brought her home.
Tefnut - I wanted to keep the theme going, and my second baby was much, much more mellow than Sekhmet, so I went with the name of Sekhmet's sated alter-ego.
Boas:
Eisheth (Sasha for 'short') - fictional diety from the Kushiel series. Goddess of healing a music. Sahsa's always had a fantastic temperament.
Kushiel (RIP) - Another deity from the Kushiel series. This baby nic had solid black eyes, and was an anery who would have held his dark coloring into adulthood like his parents, fitting for Kushiel in the books. Unfortunately the kink in his neck was worse than it looked.
Corn:
Trouble - This corn/rat mix is only mine until my friend can take her so I was trying not to name her, but her propensity for getting tangled on everything earned her this nickname, and it's stuck.
I also have Haint the halloween crested gecko who I brought home last October. Haint is an uncommon word for ghost/spirit (at least up north where I live, lol).

Newman - from Seinfeld (Hello Newman...)
Lloyd - Lloyd Christmas from Dumb and Dumber

Right now I've got a normal BP named Sabu. He was a wrestler in the 90's ECW who was kind of crazy. He hits hard and can choke you out, lol.
Also have an Emperor Scorpion named Nero, at first named for the Roman Emperor. However the original Nero actually died the week I brought him home. I was able to exchange him, and because some people in Nero's time thought he would die and be reincarnated as the anti-christ, and the new scorpion was much more aggressive, this seemed to still be a perfect fit.
I also like to name my feeders before I give them to Sabu, it freaks my girlfriend out a little more that way lol. The last few have been Stuart Little, Baby Jesus, Tiny Tim, and Fluffy.
And even MORE off topic I have an articulated skeleton of a bunny I shot named Bugs.
:rolleye2:

Re: What did you NAME YOUR BP AND WHY?
Avalon... Really our BP is more my daughter's, she is the one that wanted a snake and kept asking me for one.. I kept saying No..No..No. Then one day I started reading a little on them and within the next week we went to a show to hold a few. After that I decided this was pretty cool, so we started putting together our setup. Following month we went to another show and purchased Avalon, an 10 week old BP at the time. We're not even sure Avalon is a Female and it really doesn't matter, she's just our pet. We aren't in it to breed or have numerous snakes. It's just something to so with my daughter.

Re: What did you NAME YOUR BP AND WHY?
8 snakes:
1 reg ball - Baxter - just sounded good
1 cinny - Larry - dont know why.... just looked like a "Larry"
1 pastel - Tinkerbell - she was the baby of the group till last week @ Atlanta's Repticon
2 baby baby pastels - 1 boy, 1 girl - Ike and Tina.... :) I picked those!!
2 red tail boas - girl - Natalia Boy - rocky Bal BOA ( I picked that too..
Why did we pick these? Well, my husband doesnt name the snakes, I do. I choose to name them because they are pets and a part of our family and everyday life. Our snakes are just a small part of our clan. We have an African grey, a bob cat, a domestic cat, a black lab and an Iggy.
-
Honey - because she was a sweet heart
Betsy - because she seems like an old soul that knew about the world
Pepper - my friend named this one, she said she looked like pepper lol
Dexter - he killed like dexter
Butters - from south park, he's a pretty strange snake and I thought butters was a pretty strange character
Aurora - because she is gorgeous and reminded me of how beautiful the northern lights were
Hinata - my favorite character from Naruto
Maya - my favorite character from Glass Mask
-
Our Normal BP was named Hiss by my son. I usually refer to him as captain snake-o though.
