Feeding day..first attempt at feeding my new ones...advice please

My three new additions are getting fed for the first tine tonight....my queation is this..they were all on live hoppers qith the breeder....i can't get those....could they handle a small adult mouse or woild a fuzzy wiggly rat pup be better...

Id go with rat pups.

If there's holes in their tubs I would leave the feeder right outside their tub for about 30-45 mins. I have found that to get them in feeding mode. They should be able to take rat pinks.

Trying the fuzzy rat pups....two have their eyes open and are slightly bigger than the third...for my fires they are both a little bigger than my mojave girl....very wiggly these pups are. Pray for me..last week was hell wirh my sub adults....and first time feesing little ines...lerd hep meh

Drop the rat pups in and see if they eat them lol

If its a screen top or have vent holes place the pups right outside those for a while and keep the area dark and quiet. Giving babies the feeling of security while feeding is important. Plus allowing them to taste the air while feeling secure usually gets them in the mood to eat.

Mike.....the are on eco earth.... should i be worried abour them ingesting that? I normally and have always moved to tubs to feed...which i know is not everyones choice.....

I usually keep my babies on paper towel. Then again I always use racks to house them which works with the tubs.

Not at all. Feed them right in the enclosure. They'll be fine no problem.

I dont pre-scent like Izzy does. I would literally just drop the rats into the enclosure near wherever the snakes are in there.

Rat pups please and thank you....new babies 3 rat pups zero..woohoo...:Dfemale fire slammed it...didnt even have time to close the lid....female mojave was a tad more cautious and a little slower but got the job done.... male fire struck four times before he got it..then he let go of the head and continued to constrict...wth...never seen that before but ok..ill take it...now he is seemingly confused as to where to start...kept trying to start at the scruff of the neck..but he worked it out..woohoo...happy dance....ill post pics..i couldn't help myself...now for my sub adults.....:beer:i may need a drink for this....

Ok nuther querstion...the pet store had more rat pups that size live...should i go pick those up and freeze em...it may be hard to get that size again next time....

And tge eco earth isnt an issue right? Make fire has a glib on/in his mouth from nom noming it to death before he actually swallowed it lol...i know I sound like a psycho first time parent...i have just never had any this young before...bare with me lol

go with rat if you can, it will be easiest in the long run :) I would like to do the same thing but I have no luck finding anybody that sells live fuzzy rats where I live and I would like to switch from live mice to live fuzzies before switching to f/t. Best of luck!
