    Who plays guitar?
So, who all plays guitar, what style(s) do you play, what's your set up, how long have you been playing, and what guitars do you have?

I play punk, metal, and most other styles of rock, folk, delta blues, and some old country

For set up I only play acoustic so I don't own any gear, but I use Elixir nano web light strings

I got my first guitar for my 5th birthday, so have been playing off and on for over 20 years.

The only guitars I have are an applause (knock off of Ovation) and a Gremlin.

Rock and metal mostly. I used to be able to play most Metallica songs. I have a Washburn and an old Park amp. I am bit rusty now though because I just don't have the time to play much anymore. Been playing since high school so about 20 years or so.

I play anything that I can learn! I know the intros to a few songs is all. Metallica, 311, Incubus, Blake Shelton, Violent Femmes, Nirvana. Very eclectic taste in music and playing anything makes me happy (even though I suck). I just started here in Afghanistan and everything I know has come from my 1SG or youtube.

    I own a guitar. I've taken lessons. I've played a few things. But I wouldn't consider myself a guitarist.

Thanks for reminding me I even have one. Maybe its time to pick it up again...

I'm not that great, and I'm on a hiatus, but I play guitar and bass. Most of my father's side of the family plays, so we have plenty of equipment.
My six string acoustic is an Alvarez Yairi of some sort, and my twelve string is a very nice sounding Fender of some sort.
For electric, I used to play some Mexican-made Stratocaster knockoff that sounded pretty amazing, and my dad and I are in the process of making an SG look-alike from scratch. I use a little Roland amp and Roland VG-88 for effects.
Sorry that I don't remember any other specifics, but it's been a while since I played.
I don't play any original music. Most of what I play comes from the Beatles, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, Nirvana (lol power chords), and a couple of soundtracks.

I have both mine hanging in my living room on the walls reminding me to play when every I'm board.

I know how to but don't really play, but my dad does...extremely well. Our group is called Celt Check! and we have some clips on our site celtcheck.com. He still has to update and include the songs with ME...but hey. :D

I'm more a vocalist, but I do play recorder (soprano and alto), some bodhran (Irish drum), and piano. :)

I play a fender strat and a les Paul epiphany. I know, a fake les Paul, but I'm 14 and it's all I can afford. I play everything but metal. I'm just not interested in it. I can play crazy train, sweet child o mine, black magic women, tons of nirvana, and more. I have a diverse range. I have a small clone chorus pedal and Boss distortion. I totally just forgot the name of my amp lol but it's fun. I've been playing for two years and I have a great tome at it

I play mostly fingerpicking classical on acoustic steel strings :D

I own a martin DXME dreadnaught and a washburn rover travel guitar.

My favorite pieces to play are some ~6 minute long flamenco-ish thing I learned from sheet music a few years ago and have since forgotten the name of, and classical gas.

One of these days I'm going to pick up a classical nylon string guitar and work hard specifically playing flamenco. Right now I'm focusing more on learning to play 10-hole diatonic harmonicas.

I play drums a little bit. Buddy of mine and I are working on putting something together for iTunes release.

The real star of my family is my little cousin, Willow. She's just turned 12 or 13 (her birthday was a couple days ago).

I have been playing guitar for roughly 17 years now. I play mostly metal. My strongest influences are definitely northern European style progressive/folk/death metal (ala Opeth, Soulfallen, Agalloch, etc). I would consider my style to be fairly similar, although I haven't been in a band in several years. My rig is, and always has been, fairly simple. My main guitar/setup for the past 10-12 or so years has been an ESP LTD EX-400BD with EMG 81/60 run through an early Peavey 5150 with Peavey XXX 4-12 cab with Celestion Vintage 30's. I occasionally run a Boss MT-2 up front with a Boss RV-5, DD-3, CH-1 and GE-7 in the effects loop. Fairly straight forward set up. For practice around the house I use a Roland Cube 30X. Neat little 30w solid state modeling combo amp!

My wife said she wanted to learn bass a couple years ago so I bought her an inexpensive Ibanez Soundgear bass and a Marshall MB-30 (I know, horrible amp). She never took to it, so now I occasionally spank her bass so it gets some love too.

I play a bit. I own 3 Gibson Les Paul's at the moment, a Fender Telecoustic, and play through an Orange Tiny Terror. Not playing with a band at the moment. I have a Digitech GNX3 multieffects pedal, and record into my PC for fun. I have several midi instrument packages installed, that I use to jam along with. Mostly play old school metal, and mess around with a bit of acoustic and classical.

Here are a couple of recordings I've uploaded to Soundcloud:

That Alpine White one is actually a 2009 Les Paul 'Studio' model (no neck or body binding). It's a great player, and I love the ebony fretboard. :D The white Gibsons typically begin to turn more into a cream color as they age.

I've got some generic electric guitar and mini amp but I also have a schecter Damien 6 and a peavey vypyr 75w modeling combo.

Thing is I have zero clue where to even start learning how to play. Seriously. I've had both guitars about a year now and can't get motivated because I have zero clue where to begin.

Tips for learning, picks songs you know well. Look up tabs or chords for the song. Then get yourself a chord chart. Punk rock is usually easier to learn. Don't be afraid to take a few lessons. If you don't feel motivated by the end of the 2nd or 3rd lesson find another teacher. It doesn't have to be a professional teacher either. I occasionally offer lessons $15 1/2hr. And the local music shop with a "professional" teacher charges $50 1/2hr. Lastly learn power chords, they are easy to learn and will make you feel like a rock god in no time.

I like untimate-guitar.com for tabs and cords I download their app forever ago. I love that app it doesn't have every song you could want but the ones it has their made so you can learn them pretty easy.

I've been playing off and on for the past 5 years or so. I've recently been playing regularly (ie, daily), but my schedule makes it hard to get consistent practice time in.
Currently I have 2 electric guitars and a solid state modeling amp (not my photos):

    - Hagstrom F200
    http://www.aurel-musique.com/images_...ef2f369171b6c3

    - ESP LTD EC100
    http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/1953/62810378.jpg

    - Roland Cube 20x

Looking to save up for an Orange Dual Terror and 1x12 cab. Too many money-sucking hobbies, though :(
For anyone new to guitar who can't afford lessons, I highly recommend Justin Sandercoe's website (www.justinguitar.com). There is a mind-boggling amount of free lessons and info on there.

I'm 'retired' as of the last few months, honestly I don't have the time to play anymore, but I was a massive gearwhore.

I mostly played Thrash Metal, but I played a bit of Death, Power and Black Metal. And Classical of course.

About my rig, I have sold mostly all my gear, but my last rig consisted of a Framus Cobra v1 head, Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier head, Carvin Legacy 4x12 (with a modded switching circuit 'made by me'), a Japanese Jackson DK2M, another Japanese Jackson RR3, an LTD M-350, an LTD MH-400 and a few pedals (OD, tuner, gate, 'verb, etc..)
But in the last few years I went thru about 10 tube amps and an AxeFx Ultra, and a LOT of guitars and effects.

I have been playing guitar for the better part of 14 years, and should probably be a lot better at than I am.
Currently own and play a Parker P-42, Hagstrom Super Swede, Tanglewood Satin Acoustic, and a couple of custom guitars.
I have no set style that I play in; kind of all over the map in that regard.

I dink around a lot with FLStudio these days (been using that program since it first came out) and produce music for video games, short films, etc.
I have done an awesome job at hording all my crap and not putting it out there. I have maybe 5 or 6 tracks that have made their way into the vast interwebs, while the rest stay locked on my hard drive.

We should start a thread where everyone can post a piece of recorded music they produced!

Grandma just bought this for our daughter. She has been wanting a guitar! Now she has a real, (not cheesy one from the toy store) guitar. Now I just need to find somebody to teach her to play! Looks kinda fun, I wouldn't mind learning either.
