Potentially embarrassing question....but what the heck!
First thread for me here, so please be gentle:oops:. This is a young male BP I picked up for my son at a specialty pet store about a month ago (before I found this forum:mad:). It was sold as a male spider het ghost. Well, I've been spending a lot of time here and elsewhere researching morph combo potentials for this little guy (it is a guy...I confirmed that) and now believe he is more likely a pinstripe. Anyway, I like his look and am not dissappointed either way. Please let me know if you agree with my assessment. Thanks,

Cool! So he is a spider. I thought I saw a bit of the "wobble" when I first fed him, but it was quite minor, and I hadn't noticed it the last two times he has eaten. I know I won't be able to prove the "het ghost" part of the equation til he breeds with the right girl, but at least I don't have reason right now to doubt the snake's genetics. Thanks again,

yeah he is a spider but a good looking 1 at that, i can see how you would confuse him with a pinstripe.

he's gorgeous! Very nice reduced pattern with a nice dorsal stripe. Some people breed for the stripe, some don't. My female spider has the same stripe down her neck. Here's my little girl named Charlotte: http://www.iherp.com/Public/Animals/...nimalID=109450

An easy way to tell a striped spider from a pin is to look at the head pattern. Pins have closer to a normal head pattern and spiders have their weird pattern.

I LOVE the Spiders!!!!! Nice looking snake!!! I do like how the spider striped don't flow over the back creating the look of a stripe.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/07/aty5a2ar.jpg

that's a nice looking spider. I would ask the pet store who the breeder they got this spider from is. or if there was any paper work supporting for it being het.

Welcome to the site! He is a spider, but his pattern resembles a pinstripe so I can see how you thought that!

Thanks, everyone, for looking. I really appreciate it. When I first kept BPs over 20 years ago, I think there were only 2 morphs that I was aware of (albinos and pieds), and it was easy to tell them apart:D. Now, the number of morphs and combos out there is truly ridiculous, and the differences between them can be quite subtle, to say the least. The learning curve will be pretty steep, but I'm enjoying the climb! Thanks again for the help.
