House hunting after work, then putting together the new enclosure for my baby crested geckos so I can put the subadults in there, starting with the one I'm picking up tomorrow. :)

It would be cool to have just a Herp room 8) Are you planning on something like this? :)

I'd like to. It all depends on what I can find in a house I can afford. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Thanks Raj! :D By the way, to further hijack an already hijacked thread, who's coming down for the Atlanta show in November just before Thanksgiving?

Hey ya'll....did you miss me, too??? LOL
Yer all a bunch of greedy little posters....

Marla, I don't know if we can be there in November, but I'll certainly try! Hopefully by then, you'll have that house with a totally cool herp room set up to show off! :D

I missed you Judy! You've been busy today I'll bet. I certainly hope to have a house by November, as I pretty much have to make an offer in the next 3 weeks or wait a year, and if I'm lucky I will have a herp room. If not, I guess it'll just have to be a herp house. ;) I hope y'all can make it to the show. You'll be the closest other than Freak, who I'm also hoping to see at the Atlanta show.

Definitely busy...hubby took the day off and we were out shopping for a wedding present for his brother...a new suit...and crickets. LOL Then we had a date this evening...which was really nice. (Did some more shopping, too...am I a lucky lady or what??? )

Well, I figured you'd definitely have a house by November...just hoping that you'll have that herp room, too. I'll be prayin' for you to find just the right home!

Glad to see I have lot's of company in my addiction:)
Good Luck on the house hunt Marla, I was looking up here in the DC area and being a single parent with one income I just cant find anything I can afford.
350k and up is a little out of my price.

Who needs a dining room? Ours is full of herps now. We eat in front of the TV. end of story. :)

Jotay, I'm in the same situation, except that there are some houses in my price range. It's just a matter of what kind of compromises I'm willing to make to get one. For example, I looked at one yesterday with a beautiful back yard and a deck with jacuzzi -- but it had no kitchen. It had a place for a kitchen, but no counters, cabinets, etc., and was painted brick red with a few random mirror tiles on the wall. I suppose I could use that for a herp room and just put a microwave in the living room and call that a kitchen. ;)

A house with NO kitchen??? Now that is seriously weird! LOL

I did actually get hubby into the pet store when we got the crickets...and he looked over the critters with me. That was fun. For me, at least. He's just doesn't get excited about keeping animals.

I'll have a herp room (and perhaps a whole building) someday...but that's many years in the future, after he retires. :D

Yeah, I wonder whether the people were anorexic or planning to upgrade the kitchen or having a big problem with bugs or what that would make them take apart the kitchen and leave it as just a room. The house can't have started out with no kitchen! By the way, I got the little cresties moved over last night and will pick up the female tonight. :)

    Hi Marla-
Is Atlanta a big show? I have a friend who lives in Georgia, and I have been debating on flying out and visiting her in time for the Atlanta show. IF I have a good breeding season this year.

Atlanta's show is one of Tony Cueto's shows and is sponsored by Reptiles magazine. Attendance was somewhere around 10,000 last year, from what the newspaper said. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a little smaller this year because they are considering moving it out of Georgia for next year, but it will not be a small show. If you were thinking of visiting a friend then anyway, I'd definitely say it should be worth your while.

That's why I like the small rural area's up here in Illinois. Very larg yard (3 lots), 2 unattached garages, 1 shed, 3 bedroom house.....$25,000.

I too keep ball-python.net as my homepage, wouldnt have it any other way.

So I got bitten by a vicious crested gecko ...
Wow, Carl, that's an amazing deal. Around here $25k will get you an unbuildable lot. Trust me, I looked. If I could afford to give up my job and didn't mind moving away from all the grandparents, I'd consider moving out to the boonies for a deal like that.

It is a great deal...Lot's around here run about $2,500 - $4,000 depending on the area.

Wow ... I was excited because I thought I'd found a buildable lot for $6800, but it turned out to be major flood plain. The other lots $25k and under were either unbuildably steep, next a landfill, or so far out you had to pass an alpaca farm to get there. Sounds like it's a lot more affordable to live where you are.

Jotay, you are NOT kidding! The housing costs out here are horrendous! My hubby makes very good money, but there is NO way we could afford to buy a home in this area. I hate renting because it feels like we're tossing thousands of dollars down the drain, rather than investing it into a home...but there just isn't any other choice out here.

yeah and the sad part is I am a construction superintendent for a homebuilder and still cant afford one and I make pretty good money it's just at 350k your talking big time house payments and to just buy a lot up here your looking at 100k just for raw land
But one day i will have my herp room!
