Apparently there must be a Reptile Friendly sign on my door

Last time I had a ratsnake in my basement well this time the field herping was right in my living room ....good thing for this little guy is that I saw him before the dogs did.

Correct is one of the few skink subspecies we have here in GA.

He sure is luckier than the sparrow that my cat tried to "donate" to the house yesterday! Fortunately, today's chipmunk managed to get rescued before meeting his maker.

    Awww! What a cutie!

That is a six-lined skink. The juveniles have bright blue tails. We have them all over here too. We must've had a female come in who thought our basement (which is our finished rec-room) must be a good place to lay her eggs. That spring we had whole groups of the little critters running across our floor. Dang they are FAST!! Fortunately I was able to rescue most of them before my German Shepherds found them.

Cool Deb! I'm assuming the little guy/gal was released. What kind of rat snake did you find?

Absolutely he was put back outside where he belongs :gj:

I found a black ratsnake in my basement twice (obviously if I leave the door open it means welcome ), I have seen as many as 3 together under my deck good size too (we live on 4 acres surrounded by woods so they have a good food supply between wild mice and birds)
