Off to boot camp I go
I'm leaving Tuesday morning for boot camp. I'm trying my best not to freak out. I will be MIA for a while, figured this may be my last post. The hardest part will be saying goodbye to my son. Wish me luck.

Have fun. I was at MCRD San Diego back in Jan 05. It is all a mind game where they break you down and build you back up into a Marine. Keep strong and just think of how many have done it before you...its not impossible.

It's not that difficult Leah. It'll be over before you know it. You'll look back upon it as one of the best experiences of your life. Keep strong and never quit. See you soon. :gj:

It's a good time of the year to go. The weather should be fair for the most part while you're there. I went to basic in Illinois in November and was buried in snow the entire time.

Good luck with your training! You can do it!

Good luck I did four yrs. In the navy, and had a good time. It's what you make of it. Boot camp is a mind game so be prepared and remember no matter how tough things are everything passes in time.

Enjoy it ;-) Went through at the summer i turned 18 (had to have parent permission because i was only 17 at the time.) It'll be an adjustment, but don't take anything personally...they'll yell at you and give you a hard time, but it's all part of the program. You have a kid, so you're ) What were you planning on doing after recruit and basic? infantry, weapons tech, engineering? they will probably want you in recruiting...they'll have to start turning people away ;-)

So she is actually going to Air Force boot, not Marine Corps boot.

Good luck Leah! I know that you've gotten in great shape lately so you should do just fine with the physical part. As for the mental part, like I've already told you - remember that it is all a mind game and don't let it get to you.

Good luck, I'm sure that you'll be just fine! Once you hit tech school you'll have to get on here and let us know how you're doing.

Congratulations and Good luck Leah. I stood on the Yellow Footsteps in San Diego on January 4th 1995. That seems like a while back, but it started me on one the best rides of my life. I have been to an Air Force graduation many years ago, and it was neat. Definitely cool being able to stand on the other side of the parade field.

Keep your chin up, and remember as many have said before me, as long as your mind is strong, you will beat every GAME.

Have fun, try to go unnoticed as much as possible and focus on getting through it and not so much on how bad it sucks while you are there :) Once you get used to push ups get in military shape the rest is a cake walk if you ignore the drama! Best wishes and I hope you have the chance to speak to your son often (if he's old enough).

Good Luck I know you can get threw boot camp easily. Just word of advice make your self as small and unoticalbe as possible last thing you want is the Drill Instructor knowing your name in the first week it is not a good thing. Best of luck :)

Leah, I'm not going to wish you luck, because luck won't get you through boot camp. Heart and determination will get you through it. So, I wish you alot of heart, and strong will... :salute:

Good luck! Its crazy how you keep moving forward even though theres all kinds of nerves that are telling you to go back! You will be done before you know it! And at the end you will be so proud of what you accomplished getting through it. Formerly Marines, and I bawled like a baby when I got my Eagle Globe and Anchor at the end of the Crucible! :P

Won't say it'll be easy. From your posts it seems you've thought it over thoroughly and found it in your best interests, and I have faith in that. Stay strong, you've got more than enough in you to make it through. We'll miss you! Get back when you can
