    Judge this pastel please.
I'm looking at a few snakes locally and found this pastel. Do you think it is a good example of one?

It's ok, but it looks like it will brown out. Try to find one with as little orange/brown as possible.

Maybe it's just me..but I don't like it :( It looks dirty, and like it will brown out before it even hits 1kg. I like my pastels bright yellow with very little spots / oranges. Hopefully some more experienced keepers will chime in for ya.

That's not the exact one I'm interested in, this is just one he has in his collection. I'm waiting on a photo from the guy because I would need a female. Im hoping it will be brighter. I'll post it when I get the photo.

Being honest: no thats one of the uglier pastels ive seen out there. Id pass and keep looking. That pastel is pet quality imo. I wouldnt breed it.

Thanks for the honesty. I am gonna keep looking. I'm just anxious/excited to get another ball. I need to be patient and wait it out. Gotta remember quality trumps quantity.

    Yea exactly :gj:

Also i see youre in Florida. Check out Ben Siegel Reptiles. He has some awesome snakes too and you may be within driving distance of his shop/facility so you wouldnt have to pay shipping costs and could go checkout all the snakes in person. Im not positive but i believe he's in Deerfield Beach. Look him up too! :)

Thats not too bad. If you have a fuel efficient car then itd be cheaper than shipping probably. If you drive a gas guzzler like me, then you'll cost yourself more money in gas haha.

But you WOULD get to checkout the snake in person. Which is always nice.

Are you guys talking about underground reptiles in deerfield? Its about 3 hours 15 or so mins away. My car would kill me on gas, stupid forced induction motors.

I know its hard to wiat, but just go to the October Repticon in Tampa. Lots of pastels in one place to compare in person...and a good excuse to go to a reptile show.

Just keep looking at all the adds until you find a god one in your price range from a reputable breeder and have one shipped. Never settle for less than what you want. No reason to be in a hurry when quality is at stake. A good bright yellow female pastel will pay for itself many times over in the long run and you'll likely never want to get rid of it.

Underground is like 5 minutes from ben's shop. It is hard to get a good looking pastel IMO. Most breeders hold back hot looking females.

As others have said, that is not a good looking pastel. Garrick Demeyer is a good guy to do business with.

Not too many people are patient enough to wait for the quality animal to pop up. Once the waiting pays off, and you have a pastel girl that shines yellow in your face every time you open the tub, that should be the first sign that you made a good choice :gj:. Imagine when you start breeding, and you hatch out even BRIGHTER pastels and combos! Then people will be clawing at your door for the animals you produce :P. I bet it's a good feeling to sell your babies before they come out of the egg :gj:!
