 Just after I posted my happy post under geckos a couple of minutes ago, my roommate discovered Seymour dead. As you know, we've been battling an RI with him for several weeks and he's not eaten the entire time since he got ill.
He was awake and looking around this morning, and I hadn't looked at him since I got home as I was doing other things (checking Snyder's shed, getting kids fed, misting cresties, etc.). She went to check on him and he was just lying there, clearly dead. She's put him in a baggie and into the fridge and will be taking him to the vet tomorrow to see about a necropsy. I offered her any of my boys, but she is upset and says she'll never have another pet.

i am soooooooooo sorry.....it is never good to have a loss like that. My heart goes out to you and your roommate
-
oh man i'm really sorry to hear that. :(
-
Awww, poor Snyder, I'm sorry to hear that :( We're all here for you guys
-
Thanks, y'all. As I've mentioned before, he was the most laid back of all our snakes, always fine with being handled, and he even put up with his medicine injections with a good attitude.
-
Geeze, I am really sorry to hear that. :( I know how you guys must feel. I hope she changes her mind someday and decides to get another pet. My thoughts are with you.
-
Bad news - sorry to hear - losing them after a protracted illness doesn't make it much easier :(
-
Heavens got plenty of room for our little guys, he will be fine where he's at now. Sorry for your loss.
-
Thanks, everyone. By the way, Lindsay, Snyder is fine, though she needs to shed. It's Seymour, the poss het piebald, who passed today.
-
Sorry to hear this Marla..
-
Piebalds are beautiful snakes...

Beardie Breeders?
Whoops -- sorry Marla, my mind got jumbled, I read your post then your sig and there were alot of names there
-
Oh Marla, I'm so sorry! Even though he was your roomie's, I know you felt for him just as if he were your own. {{{HUGS}}}
-
Thanks, Carl. Bigslim, they are my roommate's favorite. That's why shed had bought him, because she hoped one day to produce a piebald. Lindsay, I knew you didn't mean anything by it. No harm done. Judy, thanks, i definitely did care for him as if he were my own. He was a special little guy.

Man I feel realy bad for you guys Marla, and especialy after you told us what your roomate said. It realy is amazing how attached we all get to our animals even the ones that are a pain in the butt let alone the real sweethearts. But my guess is in very little time your roomate is gonna stumble onto some cute little BP with some gorgeous color and pattern and personality to boot, and before ya know it you guys will have another mouth to feed.
Keep your chins up!

Thanks Paul. She's also been going through a tough time with Max, her dog, who has inoperable lipoma and has the typical arthritis of a 12-year-old dog, and of course Dobby tried to have his tail detached recently as y'all remember, so I understand her reluctance to consider another pet right now with all the problems they've been having. She may eventually change her mind -- and probably will -- but i think right now she's feeling like a bad luck magnet or a jinx.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your roommate. I don't know what I'd do if I lost Sprocket, only having her for almost two months I'm already very attached to her. I hope she'll come around and get another one, she'll miss having a snake.
-
Oh geez, I'm sorry to hear about this, Marla. I hope your roommate pulls through this loss, and decides otherwise about future pet snakes. :(
-
I'm really sorry to hear about the loss  It must be a heart wrenching time for you guys
-
Marla, I am so sorry about your loss. I wish both you and your roommate peace in your time of tribulation.
-
very sorry to hear that marla. losing a pet=losing a friend.
-
i just wanted to pass along my condolences as well Marla. It cannot be an easy time for you or your roommate. God Speed Seymour.
-
Sorry to hear of your loss, I feel bad for your roomate
It's so very hard to lose a pet.
Sounds like you guys were doing the very best for him.
Just know he's in that big hidebox in the sky.

That's so sweet it made me tear up, and I'm not normally much for crying. It's too bad he can't take his favorite hiding/hanging out rock with him.
Hours later my roommate said she might eventually get another snake, but she's just not feeling ready yet with all the problems her pets have been having lately. She read this thread this morning before leaving for work and appreciated all the kind words and thoughts y'all sent. At this point, I just hope all the other guys can stay well.

Marla, I'm so sorry to hear that. We were all really hoping Seymour would make a full recovery. Condolences to you and your roommate. I know you both did all you could for him.
-
argh....I'm so sorry....hugz to you both

I really don't know what went wrong. He was getting his meds every three days, had been to see the doc last week to make sure he was progressing, and was sounding much better with just an occasional click anymore. Poor little guy. I hope he went quickly in his final hours or moments and didn't have a lot of pain.
Anyway, thanks for the support.
