kingpin x ivory
I came home this afternoon to what I believe is my first lock. kingpin x ivory (50% poss. het pied). this is my first year breeding, so any input is certainly welcome.

thanks guys. I just wish the kingpin weren't hiding in the back. she turned out pretty great. I'll be pairing her with a firefly and probably a mojave as well before the season is over. I figure all the offspring should be fairly easy to identify even if a split clutch occurs. I'll try to keep this thread updated.

That looks like a lot of money there. What is the price on an ivory?

I'm really pleased with this guy's assiduous determination to the task at hand. can't say that I blame him, though. he's a 50% het pied, so if I'm lucky enough for him to prove out, I might be expecting a pumpkin pied or two. at the very least, I'd be more than pleased with a few yellowbelly het pieds. the female pied came from our own Adam Chandler (Showcase Serpents), so my thanks again to Adam.

I just realized that the ivory is a ph pied(sorry trying to study for a bio exam)I really hope that proves out for you!

Wish my first year was this exciting of a pairing!

That ivory is amazing! Can't wait to see what you hatch out!
-
Looking good Parker I hope he proves for you. Fingers crossed over here.
-
Nice way to start!! Good luck!

the season is officially underway. firefly x lesser took a while to figure it out the mechanics, but they're working on a full 24-hour lock at this point.

she seems to be building pretty well. she hasn't started bowl wrapping, but starting to lump up and she looks equal parts hungry and uncomfortable at all times.

missed ovulation...
but came home tonight and she had finally laid. I spotted the pre-lay shed and was hoping I'd just missed the ovy. thankfully I was correct.

I haven't counted yet. don't care; I'm just thrilled she laid. I saw no slugs and had palpated at least 7 follicles in january. I'm going to leave her be for the evening and incubate the eggs over the weekend.

Re: kingpin x ivory
Awesome, I hope you get plenty of cool babies.
1.1 pastels, 1.0 lesser, 0.1 het blurry, 0.1 spider, 1.1 norm. 0.1 dinker,

Re: kingpin x ivory
Very nice it will be fun to see what you get from your pairings.
-
Congrats on the eggs! We are still waiting for our first clutches and its driving me nuts.
-
final count is eight eggs. wildly impressed with this girl. my only complaint is that she might've set the bar too high for the future.
the eggs have plumped back up since I put them in the incubator, and all eight candled with good solid veins. hoping for some 4th of July babies.

pied update
unfortunately I wound up losing two eggs from the kingpin, but the remaining six still look good. a nice consolation prize was my female pied putting five on the floor this weekend. she's a small 2009, so five was a solid effort. whatever else may happen this season, I have to credit my luck with getting two virgin females to lay a total of 13 eggs with no slugs within two weeks of each other. piebald came courtesy of Adam Chandler (Showcase Serpents), ivory poss. het pied from JKR.
here's hoping for a couple pumpkin pieds.
pied x ivory 66% het pied

the kingpin clutch hatched a few days early (no complaints) and it looks like the firefly sired the entire clutch. I need to wait until everyone sheds out, but from the looks of it I believe I hatched two nuclear pastels (fire x lesser x pastel); one firefly; one lesser pastel; and one pastel. one nuclear pastel hatched from an egg with a deceased twin inside and had a slight umbilicus issue to boot, but she should pull through just fine.
again, this is my first clutch so any input, opinions, eyes more discerning than mine, etc. more than welcome. my timing is very unfortunate, as I might have to part with all of my 2013 hatchlings in favor of a job opportunity, but for now I'm quite enjoying it.

p.s. don't think for a second I haven't noticed that pastel male just killing it on top of all his siblings...

Ok that last picture is just so freaking adorable! Congrats on the babies and the second clutch!

Re: kingpin x ivory

kingpin x ivory
Sweet, congratulations on your first clutch. They all look great

is it Halloween yet?
ivory het pied sounds better than ivory poss. het pied. this shot was all I needed to see.
also, thanks for the remarks everyone.

wildly premature update (i.e. no pictures yet): there are four yellowbelly pieds. out of a five egg clutch. with the sire being an ivory 50% possible het.
I am blown away by the odds. or rather, I'm sure I would be blown away if I could actually calculate the odds.
pictures to come once they shed out.

Very nice, big congrats on the pumpkins!!!

Re: kingpin x ivory
Congratulations on both clutches!
