does he have spector in him, his mom did?
Ok so he was bought as a pastel but his mom was a super stripe. Almost every pastel specter that i have seen looks almost identical to him. I'm sure the breeder wouldn't have let me get him for teh price i got him at if there was any doubt in his genetics, but i would still like some more opinions. So what do you all think? Thanks,
    David

If the female was a Super Stripe that means all her offspring will at least be YB or Specters…So it’s one or the other if it was truly produced by a Super Stripe...The breeder should have known this though…

he did know that it was from a super stripe but he said that he didn't see any specter in this one. but he didn't rule it out either, which is why he didn't budge from the price he had it at. He didn't mention the YB thing though, this would explain a lot of teh blushing and flames though.

    Thanks for the insight.

Belly shots would probably help a bit. I don't see pastel YB in those pics and I am not good at picking our specters.

Honestly, just looks like a pastel to me right now. If the mom was a superstripe it should have either YB or specter in it.

I can't imagine why anyone would sell a pastel from a superstripe breeding as just a pastel. It can't be just a pastel. Smells fishy to me.

Definitly would love to see some belly shots. I have 3 snakes from a pastel x specter clutch I'm trying to figure out myself. Thanks.

I have a few pics of known pastel specters to compare to and I'm almost 100% that the one I have is. She was from a blonde pastel x specter paring the specter is proven to produce super stripes. Still very very hard to identify the difference between them especially when the start to put on weight and a few sheds. Belly is a pretty good identifier.

Here is a few pics of mine and a belly shot included. I also have a supe specter female that I will put a super pastel ivory to as soon as she gets up to weight but that's not until at least next season.

Maybe I am confused, but of course it can just be pastel, yellow belly by specter is not a homozygous form of anything, its just a 2 gene snake, that means that the parent can pass on either yellow belly, specter, or normal genes, so it certainly can be a normal pastel, or am i wrong here?

Sorry to say but you are wrong.
Superstripes are allelic just like vanilla creams and Crystals and others, so when you breed a superstripe to a normal you get yellowbelly or you get specter, no normals.
