I know how addicts feel now...
I am starting to look around the house at things I can sell to get money to buy more morphs. The upkeep is no problem, it's just the initial drop of cash. And yes we have emergency funds for vets/medical etc, but it wouldn't be emergency funds if I dipped into it every time I wanted something :P I'm so obsessed right now with these 2 hatchlings from a local breeder. UGGGHHH...must make $700...Must sell motorcycle...old furniture...must must must...Man... I feel like a you know what addict. LOL :P

Sorry for the pointless post...Just needed to vent to people who might share my issues

On an unrelated note...We get to pick up our new Mojave boy Monday! *Squeeeee*

    Haha, welcome to the club!

I have a method to my madness now, any OT that goes in at work or any freelance cash I get over a certain amount goes back in to the hobby. This past year was mainly supplies, racks and renos for the reptile rooms. Now I'm itching to pull the trigger on some new additons. ;)

I feel the same way, LOL. I've been searching lately for stuff to sell so that I can get more supplies for my Scaleys and for new additions. Not having much luck on finding stuff to pawn away though. :(

My "habit" isn't just snakes...... my boyfriend keeps telling me "no more species!" and then I go and buy something anyway. He tells me I spend his money before he's even got it in his bank account LOL. My collection is nowhere near the amount of a lot of people. They all fit in my bedroom. Right now I'm bound to a rule "tanks will not overflow into other parts of the house!" hehe

Well i think people kinda look at it negatively sometimes when the word addiction is used. I mean yes, i sure am addicted to snakes/the herp world in general, but it isnt really a bad thing. I love my snakes but they can also be seen as an investment too. Which is something alot of people who arent into herps dont see. Its not like drugs/booze/cigarettes will ever be able to pay you back like a ball python could. Unless you consider liver failure or lung cancer getting paid back lmao...

Trust me I understand. Years ago my son convinced me to let him buy two normal ball pythons from a friend. He told me they are great pets. Now we have over a hundred snakes. I am truly addicted!

I'm restricted to a single room as well. And that room has to hold my book cases, computer, desk, art supplies, reptile supplies, hermit crab supplies, etc. Oh, did I mention this room is only 10' x 10'? So the closet has been converted into a storage station with all my art supplies. Computer desk in the center. Stacking PVC racks for the scalies. But, I just CANNOT put another enclosure in there and have it work. No way, no how.

So what's a girl to do....?

I save pictures of morphs I find on here, name the file so I know the combination/breeder, and if applicable, note the price. I'll develop a huge folder. Then, after a while, I go back over the ones I've saved and start to delete/move the ones that are no longer on my 'want' list. I mean, yes, they all are, but if I had to pick 5 morphs out of 100 pictures, well that means I'm going to have to shrink my list!

It helps me identify what I'm looking for and keep my head in the game. I love Woma pythons, but, I can't justify one. So I save pictures and enjoy them that way. But I still want a nice 'Super' morph of a BP, because I love the white head stamp. So do I save up $1000 and go for a nice male? What if I find a nice Super Pastel male that's cheaper? Would I give up my dream of a Super Vanilla for a Super Pastel? Pros and cons. Lots to think about.

I find by doing that, I have a 'collection' on my hard drive that keeps me interested, and there's less to clean up after that way too. Right now I just got my favorite BP. A Pied. And I love him! But I definitely want my 'girl' python too. Need a girl. Not to breed, just a girl :-D

Yeah....everyone told me it wouldn't be long before I was looking to buy another snake.

Sure enough...I wanted a female to pair with the cinnamon in the future, so I looked through the world of ball pythons site and matched up different females with him.

And then I stumbled across this pretty little lesser Pastel. Plugged it into the genetics thing and I just...love all the outcomes. So guess what came in the mail today. Hopeless, I am.

I also found a pair of cute normals that look like fake leopard ball python. Annnd those are coming home with me too.

Thank god all my tubs will be full now too. But I still have a list of other wants as well. Like...a male kingpin, and a female pastave. v.v

I know how you feel. I have 2 BPs and 2 terrrariums. I have no room for any more tanks, but I really want to spend the money and get an Albino BP. I don't wanna get rid of one to get another. UGH!

I already told my hubby that when the rack is done...we are introuble. In already planned what to put in it and my second rack that I don't even have yet Lol! These damn snakes are in my head 24/7, I get up in the night to plug things into the calculator. My poor hubby listens to me ramble on and on aabout what I read on bp.net and what I saw for sale on fauna and KS. Thankfully he's into it now too and is looking at office space / warehouse space online lol! I have created a monster with him too!

Thank God I thought it was just me. Ive been looking for stuff I could sell or even thought of collecting some scrap metal to sell. But right now this economy has me.stretched pretty thin. My wife is not interested in the.snakes and wants me to get rid of them. I want some morphs so bad and for some reason I keep having all of these normals coming at me. I have 1.2 and have one to pick up tomorrow.

Re: I know how addicts feel now...
I bought my snow motley corn snake last September (a year ago in three days) and now...my collection has grown to 7 snakes with a 1.1 pastel PH albino pair coming in the mial hopefully very soon (just waiting on the female to get some more meals in her)...I'm also thinking about getting a lesser and mojave to make some BELs and even looking into something cinnamon to throw into my group too.

I have a rack that holds 8 28 qt tubs and one of my corns is in a tank. I'm already planning a second rack to hold 41qt tubs for when my BPs are adults....

Anyone near central florida want to start a "constrictors anonymous" support group? lol! Hi, my name is Tiffany. And I'm addicted to snakes. *hi Tiffany!*
But instead of trying to stop each other we enable each other and talk about what project we want to get into :P

Boy, there are so many snakes I would love to have right now. If only money would fall from the sky.... I gotta stop looking at all these awesome snakes, on here! They make me want. But I really think next on my list going to be an albino or sunglow boa.

My list grows almost every time I log in here, or watch snakebytes, or go on kingsnake. Hopefully I can pick up a pewter, or lesser/cinnamon, or albino, or axanthic at the expo on the 13th. Course I need to sell my 3 normal babies and 3-5 poss het albino pied boy babies to have room/ money for the expo........
