    What thermostat you use?
Its just for 2-1 heat pads, i don't need nothing fancy that can hold a lot of wattage but one that is good and not crazy like 100$-200$
    :gj: Thanks!!

Herpstats. They are the safest on the market currently.

Herpstat and Ranco. You won't get a safe, accurate, and reliable thermostat for cheap. The average will be $100+.

I own every kind of thermostat from the cheapest all the way to the most expensive. With out a doubt the most expensive one was worth every penny.

Go with the herpstat. It costs a lot initially, but you will never look back!

Vivarium Electronics VE-200 and http://www.reptilebasics.com/thermostats and Herpstat http://www.spyderrobotics.com/store/

Keep in mind that a reliable thermostat is the single most important thing when it comes to husbandry. Yes there are cheaper thermostat however they often fluctuate, break down and need to be replaced.

Best thing you can do is invest in a good thermostat it will be worth it in the long run.

why would you go cheap on an item that can not only burn your snakes, but can also burn your house down? A lesson I've learned in life, you get what you pay for.

I have both a Herpstat1 (older version), and a new Herpstat2 and I can't say enough good things about them. Very user freindly and well worth the cost.

I've heard of a user on here that had a fire and lost his collection. I have no idea whether it was because of his thermostat, but it just drives home a point that it's a potential risk, and not something to cheap out with.

Would you buy a cheap parachute?

Herpstats for sure the most amount of safety features on the market currently. Ecozone, my second the best monitoring system coupled with data logging...

I have a herpstat 2(the older one), a couple hydrofarms, and recently got a herpstat intro.

If I was trying to cheap out I'd do a hydrofarm tstat from amazon.com ($30) or the new herpstat intro ($99).

But in all reality keeping an eye, a VIGILANT eye, on the hydrofarm I run bugs me. Granted, IME ,it can keep temps within a 4-5* window. I can only get away with this because I heat the room that particular enclosure is in. It's borderline a glorified rheostat...because I have to double check it all the time.

The new herpstat intro, even though I've only had it a few weeks, is AWESOME. Seriously, I'm probably going to switch the enclosure in the heated room over.

In addition, You should probably get the herpstat 2 if you're planning on getting any more reptiles or keeping different species. That's what I did because it will save you money in the long run. Two seperate enclosures/racks and tempurature settings on one tstat can't be beat.

I know budgets are tight right now, but never skimp on your thermostat. Pay extra now and it will pay you back with peace of mind that your animals have safe and effective heat. I personally use Vivarium Electronics.

I can't personally recommend using anything if your not willing to spend at least 100 dollars. Anything under that you might as well have a lamp dimmer switch IMHO. The only reason I would consider having a zoomed, or exo-terra would be for a back-up, in case mine went down but than I would be running off to find a herpstat STAT.

    It's worth the investment.

These are the only ones I have experience with that I would recommend:

    Herpstat
    VE series

I've heard Johnson Control systems are good too, but Vivarium Electronics are leaders in the hobby and their products are specialized for reptile keepers.

I wouldn't trust my reptiles to anything less than the best..

Guys i think the OP is missing a really important comma. My guess is he meant to say. "...nothing crazy, like $100-$200". As in "id like to keep it between 100-200 dollars".

Thats how i read it at least.

Reality does have a pessimistic bias. I figure mentioning the hyrdofarm will hopefully keep many a snake away from completely unregulated heat.

Thanks to all i will try the http://www.reptilebasics.com/ve-100 (herpstats atm are out of stock) i saw a youtube video and said that is was very very good, Im not gonna use it much bc here in Puerto Rico the temp stay hot but i need it for now that the temp is gonna drop a little. I just didnt want a thermostat that cost like 300 and im only gonna use it for 1 heat pad, i would buy one like that when i get more bp's bc im sure im gonna get more "you just cant keep one"
Sorry for all my bad writing lol
Thanks to all of you :D

Spyder robotics ships world wide, have more safety features are are cheaper. The herpstat intro lists at 99$ and is a full dimming proportional controlled unit (the VE200D is the only dimming proportional VE series.) The VE100 is a basic on/off T-stat basically the same as a Johnson or ranco both of which are cheaper I would highly recommend a proportional unit they are more versatile and deliver more accurate stable temps.

I have a ranco on off thermostat running some zoomed heat pads I got babies in. I don't like it, looking to upgrade asap. For my main set up I got the dual zone herpstat. I am going to hook a incubator up to it also very soon.
