    Would you buy this Mojave?
My friend and I are new to purchasing BP morphs. I'd like some feedback about this girl we were thinking of buying. She's a little dark for a Mojave, but the pattern is right, to me. Are there any other Mojave owners who have observed individual color variance among this morph? I've held one in person, close to the same age as this, and I remember the snake being brighter... could it just be low lighting? I'd be grateful if anyone had some pics in either different or similar lighting to compare. Thanks for any helpful feedback! It's really appreciated!

I am not a master forum poster by any means, but I use the photobucket method all the time, it was just getting old, lol. Sorry my experiment didn't work. ;P

    Here she is!!

Personally I prefer dark mojaves. The darker the better. I would possibly buy her. Her pattern is nice, love the darkness, and she has pretty decent blushing up her sides (from what I can see) I like floating pattern, and it's hard to tell from that pic if hers are or not.

To add to my post...she is a little low on contrast, but depending on my project her darkness might be more important.

I would pass. That mojave isn't very high quality. I have a dark mojave, but her yellow alien heads glow. That mojave has no contrast.

Thanks a lot, guys! I will talk to my friend about this, because she was pretty excited about it but something made me go "ummmmmmm..." and I wasn't sure if it was just me or not, since I don't spend a lot of time around this morph in person. Yes, contrast is the word, it really looks like it's missing here, especially in the dorsal markings. Color wise, this snake doesn't make me think of a Mojave. Guess I'll ask the breeder to take another picture or two in some different lighting before we make an ultimate decision, but I'm going to suggest my friend pass.

Just for the sake of being hopeful and optimistic... do you think she's a fluke and her offspring might "clean up" this bloodline, or would that be too much to gamble on? Meh, knowing my friend, she'll buy this girl just to give her a home, nobody will be lying to themselves that she's ugly at least, LOL.

Too dark for my taste in Mojave, I'm not seeing enough contrast, and while the blushing is there it's pretty week. I'd say it'll make the morphs you want, but you may not get as nice of BEL if your friend is shooting for that complex. Here's my 2012 Mojave Female

I like dark mojaves, too, but the windows have to be LIGHT--there has to be good contrast. That's not a high quality mojo, and I wouldn't buy it.

I know that babies have a lot of contrast, and that age plays a huge role in the appearance of many morphs, but just doing a simple google I even saw adults who put her to shame, lol. Thanks for sharing pics of those cuties, gorgeous. I thought it might be just the photographer, but I think it's safe to assume it's not at this point. She's not being sold at nearly full price, so I don't think we're being swindled, the folks have to find her a good home, obviously. My friend warned me she was "a little dark" and had noticed it herself. Maybe we'll just buy her because we are bleeding hearts, LOL. Come to think of it, we're planning to breed her to a lesser male anyhow, and if we produce a white snake, I don't think her shade will really matter? But any Mojaves she throws off might be lower quality, and producing low quality snakes isn't really in best interest for the animals, but it all depends on what you plan to do with the morph, bright snakes will always be needed, and sometimes it's not as important to someone. I'll definitely be straightforward about it that their mother was dark of we do buy her and produce babies. Wouldn't be able to sell them for full price either until we saw them grow big enough to prove they keep their contrast. Honesty is important!

I honestly like dark mojos, but i only like it if the dark is very dark and the whites are really white, here is a pic of one i bought in 2008 http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k8...shane_10-1.jpg

Yours is definitely nice and bright for a more mature snake, so I wouldn't be so disappointed. :) Remember you are comparing to babies.

To OP: I have a Mojave male that I have bred for two years now. He is dark chocolatey brown with no blushing or flames. The offspring that come out of him are gorgeous bright flamed and depending on the female that I put him with different shades from yellow to tan and even silver. Mojave is an awesome gene that has a lot of polymorphism. It shows off other genes. So in response to your question... If she's priced right, healthy, and you like her, get it :).

I personally think that it's a beautiful mojave and that it looks very similar to the first poster that replied's picture of theirs. Nothing wrong with that snake at all but then I don't own or look at many so maybe to someone who deals with them a lot it is lacking in some areas. Either way, I like it.

It's amazing, the variance in the dorsal markings on these snakes! I love the solid stripes, because on Java's they really pop... but I can't say this isn't better, with all the blushing everywhere! RosyReps, your second snake's back is insane!

I won't have any delusions if I buy this girl, she's not the prettiest, LOL. Have to keep in mind, all I need her for is white snakes. (We have a lovely lesser male.) She wasn't being sold near regular price, so it's not really a rip-off... She's an adult female after all. Were I to produce any young from her, I'd make it fully known that the mom was lacking in contrast if we sell the babies. (Because most young snakes are deceptively bright.) We'll have to keep any young until adulthood to prove they didn't inherit their mom's dirtiness, if we want to sell at full.

Thank you, everyone, for all the pictures and feedback. This was very helpful - exactly what I needed to see/know. :) All these pictures are amazing!

I really like the silver color in that Mojave. Beautiful!

Sorry for naughty double post, lol, but just want to say thanks! Well the more thinking I did on it, the more I realized, we've got some nice HC animals to breed her to, anyway, when we aren't just trying for white snakes, and thank you for giving me piece of mind, I didn't want to feel like I was being too hopeful, but I do imagine that this "polymorphism" can work in my favor. ;D She is very well priced, and we have a Lesser male, we kindof need her. Thank you!!
