Can I see some adult BCI??
Just curious.. I want to get a boa someday.:D
Show me pictures of some adult boas in comparative size to a human.. Does anyone have an adult BCC?

Give me about 5 years :) I"m not quite sure if my little guy is a BCC or BCI yet though. I guess I will figure it out the longer I have him.

I'll come back to this tomorrow afternoon when I'm not at work and upload a shot of my monster BCI on my shoulder. He's about 7' and 18-20lbs on any given day :-)

I only have a pic of my sub adult jungle male (June 2010 baby) who's (rough estimate) about 6' and 6+ lbs (haven't weighed him or measured him in months).

Here's some of our girl, Satin. :) She's around 6-7ft, not sure of her age (she was a rescue and they didn't know her age either, but I'm guessing she's around 4-5 years old. Hard to tell though) and around 20lbs.

Whoops, just noticed that you said you wanted to see BCC's, and my girl's a BCI. I guess I should read more carefully. :P

Here is my 8 foot male, he's bigger than he looks. I'm 6'6 and in that picture I was 270lbs.

Here's my boyfriends bci, using her human as her perch. She's more of a sub adult, about 3 years old.

Thanks! I haven't measured or weighed him in months, so my rough guess is at least 6' and over 6 pounds (since that's how much he weighed months ago). He's a big guy for his age though IMO, my other females are a lot smaller than him at their age vs how large he was at the same age.

I'm still fighting with my little guy to eat for the first time. Two refusals in the first two weeks. May try again this Sunday. It's like he is scared of f/t pinkies.

Pinky (mice)? How many grams is he? Have you tried leaving them in with him overnight?

I'm trying pinky rats, they seem to be the right size (slightly smaller than his girth, I just want him to eat something).

I've left one in overnight without any results. He refused Thursday night so I may try again tomorrow. I'm going to wait until midnight or so until he is cruising around.

Don't worry, once you get him started he'll be a garbage disposal just like the rest of his kind. :P

Have you tried a live rat pink? Honestly, I have not heard of a boa that won't eat.

Haven't tried live yet. I've yet to have him roaming around when I fed, so I'm going to wait until I see him up when I feed.

I'm trying to avoid live at all costs. If he goes another 2 weeks I may resort to that.

Try a mouse, a hopper or weanling f/t. If I have a picky snake with rats I'll go to mice to get them going. Honestly I feed my boas mice until they get to be one year old then switch them to appropriate sized rats. I've read that it could be healthier to the snake than feeding rats off the bat but unfortunately I can't quote where I've read that. I've had luck with it though, so it's just preference.

Maybe you can try offering when he's hidden in a hide: wiggle it around at the entrance? Or if you want to see him searching for food then give him 2 weeks before offering. Sometimes offering too often can stress out the snake. A non feeding boa isn't that surprising: my little argie male refused his first meal for me so it's not totally uncommon, especially if they're young and/or still getting used to their new home. Just my .02

When he's in a hide he seems to not care about food. He roams quite a bit at night which is expected.

If refuses again ill go grab a mouse and see what happens. Thanks!
