How long have you owned a BP?
I've had my adult male for about 2 years.

Got my first BP in spring of '95. I think I got the second in 1998 and the third in 2002, but those are a little fuzzy for me. Current ones have all been acquired since Dec 2003, when I was allowed to have a snake in the house again. :)

After the second and third ball pythons became permanent escapees (one definitely not my fault, one sorta my fault for not sufficiently supervising someone else), I was told I was a hazard to ball pythons and could possibly be permanently responsible for the species' extinction and no, no, no, I couldn't have another. But then I was given one for my birthday a few months ago as apparently I'd been determined no longer a threat to the entire species.

You're right! I guess I just assumed that every one who is on the board either owns one or is planing to get one.

I have had my little man for a week & i gotta tell ya, after working through some early problems, i am so attached to him in such a short time it scares me! Plus, I enjoy caring for them so much that I am already thinkin about when I can get another one! LOL! My girlfriend will have NONE of that though. We only live in a one bedroom apartment that isn't very big until we get done with college & i had to fight with her tooth & nail just to get her to let me have Jack! She won't be too keen on another at this point.

and for all of you who say you don't want another snake because of who you live with, you're living with the wrong people. my gf wouldn't dare tell me to get rid of my snakes, she knows how much i care about them all.

Have you had ones in the past?

I've never had a bp, no. I got my first snake this past August, but it's a Cape Gopher.

Will.....sorry hon...but my husband was in the picture LONG before any reptiles. And no matter how much I love the critters, they will never hold a candle to my man. 8)

I agree with Will. I've learned not to associate with people who think they are slimy. No one would DARE tell me to get rid of them and that will go for colleges in three years. You accept me, you accept the babies!

Well, if you're single and already set in your herp-loving ways...then it certainly makes sense to search for a significant-other who at least supports the hobby, or better yet, partners with you in it. That's just good sense, looking for a good match. That being said...I hope all of you find a true love that means far more to you than any animal you may or may not desire to own. :)

Yep, a herp is certainly not something to end an otherwise good relationship over. I even have friends who aren't reptile fans. As a rule, they don't come to my house, and that's okay. Some of them like chihuahuas and pit bulls, and while i don't understand it, I don't end the friendship over it either. Now, friends who don't like kids are another matter. They pretty much need to pretend, keep their mouths shut, or get on down the road. :)

My baby doll was in the picture for over three years before I even suggested gettin a snake of my own. I have liked them for a while but never really considered gettin my own until this past year when my suitemate at school came in with one. That was the one that I used to care for a lot & I loved that snake. Ya know what too? I don't care what people think, that snake loved me! He remembers me too cuz i went four months without seeing him & when i saw him again, he came to me when I opened the tank. He doesn't even do that for his owner!

So, as you can see, Nanci was here long before Jack! She is a true animal lover though & is starting to love Jack already. I knew that she would! She isn't ready to touch him, especially since he still hisses & pretends to be a tough guy. But with time, it will happen!

I got The B about a year ago last november. She was given to me for free cuz I went into a Petco nearby and this snake had been returned twice for biting people. I had never even thought of getting a BP; I was into frogs and fish. So I gave myself a crash course in BP ownership and adopted her. She was a great pet until SOMEONE left her cage open (not me) and she escaped and froze in my basement. I had gotten Octavia shortly before the escape, and Goblin (pictured in my avatar, the big fatty) in Sept '03.september. Got Ginger a month ago (rescue case) and Ghost the bci a weekish ago.
