    What to choose!
Oh man. I have been searching and searching. Especially looking at local ball python breeders, because I'm a bit iffy about shipping them. I know people do it all the time, but...its not so much the shipping as it is...who to trust. Of course, if any of you have someone to shout out for that you get awesome BPs from through shipping, you're more then welcomed to let you know.

Anyway. So one of the local ones has some Cinnamons for sale. I've looked up some adult pictures and they are gorgeous. And then, I'm wandering around and there's other. A mocha I really like, and this normal with some nifty markings that I just can't seem to stop staring at.

I have no idea what to do. XD There's so many to choose from. Not even just past those three, but others too. What was your first BP type and why? Was it just convenient/cheap? Or did you have breeding plans for the future and start it off there? (Also, I always love looking at pics, so feel free to show me what you started with :3)

The average cinny isn't going to have blue eyes like these two unless there's something else going on or another gene at work, but all in all, I think cinnamons are a great morph!!

Shipping isn't a problem at all as long as its a reputable and known breeder, preferably someone with a good-guy thread in the BOI forum on fauna, or on here.. Someone who can be vouched for as far as their shipping practices are concerned.

Just ask them what kind of box, filler, and heat pack they use. Tell them shipping makes you nervous and you want to be positive...

    No harm in asking questions!!

Never settle for less than what you want just because it's all that is available in your town.

Yeah, and the ones she has are...very light? Compared to some of the other's I've seen on faunaclassifieds. And I personally like the darker ones.

    Ribbit.......

I was totally paranoid when I bought my first snake that had to be shipped. But that may be the only way you get the exact snake you want. Here was my first "shippee'. Also, my favorite girl.

I can say I got her safely from a breeder in Colorado off kingsnake. And most recently my favorite boy, from our very own Freakie_Frog

He probably came packaged the best, labels saying what was in the box, nice packing to keep him warm, safe, and secure. My bee came packaged nice too. I was a bit worried about my butter from Garrick, as her heat packs were ice cold when I got her, but I have had her for about 7 months now, and she is just fine though.

Don't be afraid to ship. You can check the boi, or come here and ask if you can't find anything. If you are dealing with someone reputable, you should have no problems. Take a look around, and get what you want, don't settle for what you can get.

    Beautiful.
And you're right, very right. I shouldn't skimp on myself. Should find something that just makes my jaw drop.

Absolutely! Otherwise, down the road you will find yourself still wanting some other morph, and at that point, getting another snake. Oh who am I kidding, you are going to fall head over heels in love with them, and within a year will probably have more of them anyhow.....:D

Pffft. I already know I'm getting more. When I built my rack, I included space to add more tubs. I know it is coming. There's no doubt about it. XD

A pinstripe was my first BP. I just thought they looked amazing and are one of my favorite morphs.

I love those black pastels too! The pinstripes are nice too, but I am a sucker for darker morphs.

What's the difference between the black back and non? I mean, as far as colors are concerned. Do the regulars end up much lighter? Or just the same just with the spots on the back?

Personally, when it comes to cinnamons, they should be lighter. The dark markings should be closer to the color of cinnamon. Especially the top of the head... It's black pastels that should have very dark, shiny black markings.

Both can have a black back pattern but it's more common with cinnys. The black back pattern shows a more solid pattern along the spine, less spotting along the spine, and more blushing is apparent in that pattern.. It just looks nicer to me, and the majority of cinny lovers I believe.

Ah. I found one with spots on his back and I honestly like it better. XD Maybe one of the odd few. I think he might be the one. :3

The only advice I have is buy a FEMALE! When I was about to buy my first BP, somebody on this site recommended buying a female (even though they were a bit more expensive) because if I ever wanted to breed, I would already have a close to breeding size girl. I thought, no way I'll ever breed, I just want one pet snake. Well, I was very wrong. I just picked up a female for my male pastel, but now I have to wait three years to breed! :( Also, when you buy a female first, the morph male you buy later will be a good bit cheaper than a morph female! Best of luck, and if you are really wanting to treat yourself, go for a double gene female that you like, like a bumblebee, firefly, fire spider, or lesser spider. These are some awesome combos that will put you back 400-800 bucks, but are stunningly beautiful, and genetically strong animals should you decide to breed. As for who to buy for, you can't go wrong with Garrick Demeyer at royal constrictor designs. I got my first ever snake from him, and he has never missed a meal or struck at me! Hope you find your perfect BP!

Yeah, I used to breed my corns, so I'm sure after a handful of years I'll want to start BPs, so I did look for females at first. But I really found nothing that I'm interested in. We plan on buying more later, or next year, so I'll probably at least make sure they are females. I went ahead and got what I think is this gorgeous male. Nice cinnamon-like colors that blend well. And I'm already studying up on what types to pair him with, so for now I can just skim leisurely until I find something that I feel matches for him. It's all right I'll might have to wait another year longer for the female/s to mature. I don't plan on getting into breeding until I feel like I'm and expert at basic care.
We're buying a house next year, so after that I can start building them bigger racks and hatchling racks. I can start gathering up more stuff because we'll have the space to put it, because I plan on making sure we can at least have a small room to put everything.

    what to choose?
I like clowns and clown combos. this was the last snake that was shipped to me. I always have them put a hold at fedex on them, and I'll go and pick them up 8:30 in the morning instead of them being on the truck.

I do that too, to shorten the wait and decrease the bouncing around on the truck. Glad you found the one you wanted, OP, and I bet it's a matter of weeks before you're browsing for the next. Oh, and yeah, make the next one a female! :D

I don't have to browse too far, I just hatched out 2 female superflies ( super pastel fires ) that I'm holding back and I have a lesser x clown clutch hatching this coming week. fingers cross on getting female lesser het clowns.

Whaaat, a week? How about the next day? lolol. I went back to check on what else the guy I'm getting the Cinnamon from had, so I had to search through other ads to find it and stumbled across this lovely Pastel Lesser female. -coughs-
Needless to say, she'll be having her new home here in a few weeks.
