Adding 3 more to the mix
I am looking for match making tips. I currently have yellow belly female and 2 normal females that won't be breeding this season. But what I will have is a (male blackbee and a female black pastel) sale pending on these two hopefully picking up on saturday for a steal. male lesser and two normal females. What pairings to which females would you think about doing?
-
Well with only one non-normal girl, your choices are limited.
To the normal girls just throw whatever morph you like the best.... Lesser, or BlackBee (Spider, Black Pastel).
For the Black Pastel girl.... I would introduce her to the Lesser ;)
-
I would definitely pair the black bee to the black pastel.
There is the possibility of 6 different snakes. normal, spider, black bee, black pastel, super black pastel, and a super black bee.

I was just looking at the on wobp. I think it has a potential to produce a black widow? Correct me if I'm wrong

I think you need another Pastel gene there- Black Pastel x Spider X Pastel= Black Widow
There surely are some nice options on that pairing though. I personally never caught on to the Black Pastel thing.... I like lighter snakes. That's what's cool. You can breed for what you like.

If you think I have a male blackbee and a female black pastel.
Would it be
Black pastel x spider x black pastel?
Super black pastel spider? Is that what a black widow is ? Or what would it make?

Is there another name for spider super black pastel?
-
I would pair the black bee to the normal and hook up the lesser to the black pastel girl.
-
What outcomes would I have with a lesser x black pastel??
-
1:4 you'd get a Black Pastel Lesser- http://ballpythonbreeder.com/photogr...-black-pastel/
Add a Lesser to anything and you get a beauty. I'd rather play those 1:4 odds than 1:8 odds.
It's really all in what you want. Don't add to your collection without knowing what you want to produce. That way you can plan your purchases towards what you want to breed for. Everything I own has a goal in mind for it... except my son's little normal ;)

Yeah def, i haven't bought the black bee or the black pastel yet, offer pending with a breeder. I def want to produce spider type morphs, that's what really got me excited about bps. Should I look at a different female just looking for cool pairs

The the super black pastels having the potential of duck-billing, I'd be worried to pair that up with the spider wobble... Also, I believe you would just get an all black snake with a wobble. The wobble will probably be what confirms that the snake has spider in it. This is just my personal opinion of course. I personally wouldn't go with that pair to pair with each other.
If you like black pastels, you should look for the perfect female. Keep looking for pics of black pastels, figure out what you're favorite traits are, then go for the one that has ALL these traits. Then when you have more money saved up, buy a male that would work well with YB and black pastel.
Another idea is to plan further into the future. If you're going to pair a morph with your YB, look for a combo that goes well with YB.. If you want superstripes, go for a specter female. Raise her up.. While you're raising her up, buy a nice combo male to pair with that YB female.. Say you went with pastel lesser male for example. Pair the pastel lesser male with the YB, hopefully you hit on a pastel YB, or pastel lesser YB, or lesser YB MALE. Raise that boy up to pair with that specter female.. Bam... Hopefully you hit on a superstripe combo.. Such as a pastel superstripe, lesser superstripe, or a pastel lesser superstripe.... Imagine... oh baybeh..

If you like Spider based morphs, get yourself a nice well started female Spider. You can find a breeder sized girl for probably $400-$500 for this season. I picked up an 1175g Spider girl a few months ago and she is putting on weight steadily and should make it this season (1350g now). She will meet my 1.0 Lesser and hopefully I'll see some LesserBee's. That Spider was a purpose built purchase... I like Lesserbee's, but moreso, I really want a Nuclear Spider- hence my 1.0 FireButter for ALL my 0.1 Spiders/Spinner next year.
Consider a Pastel/SuperPastel male if you don't get the Lesser. Very desireable morph, and you'd get a chance at some Bee's on your own and some fairly common, desirable hatchlings that would be pretty easy to sell and recoup a few dollars. You can pick up a breeder 1.0 Pastel for $75 easily. SuperPastel for probably $350- $400 for a well started/breeder size.
I'd go the 0.1 Spider x 1.0 SuperPastel for a nice breeder set. Yes, the Super is more, but you eliminate any chance of normals :gj:
You can build off both next year as you add to your collection.
