Do you guys have any ideas how I can make my cage look a little nicer? I was thinking of getting a background but I want to get a cool looking one and haven't found a very big selection. I just would like to hide those nasty looking wires with something. Any suggestions would be great as I am trying to set-up a nice looking (and funcitonal) display.
    you guys rock!

I was looking at the backgrounds at Petco the other day and they didn't have much of a seclection, and only one that wasn't an underwater scene -- it was black on one side, blue on the other. I'd bet, though, that if you went to a fish specialty shop you could probably find a bigger selection. I know I've seen forest scenes before. If nothing else, if the aquarium isn't too big, you could use book covers, which have a pretty wide variety of designs.

I ended up with a blue/black background as the petstore didn't have any that weren't aquatic. I recommend using them since after I installed it (covered back and one side) Xaero comes out more and seems to feel less "displayed". I use the blue side, but I would have preferred a nice outdoor scene.

LOL...that would be funny to put an aquatic one up. I got mine at Petco...it's aquatic on one side and a desert scene on the other. It's set up on Caesar's cage, which you can see in my gallery if you want. I want to find another one for our new beardie's cage...but I don't want it to be an exact duplicate of Caesars......although, I'll take what I can get.

Hehe - our stores have those ones you buy by the foot - some of them have desert/jungle/grassland scenes and all are dual-sided. Since the Blood's cage is nearest the window i plopped the ever-attractive carboard wrap around it.

The ones available around here look kinda like this:

but by far the most kickass prices I have seen (bulbs, sphagnum, hides et al) are here:

We order from them pretty regularly rather than pay the INSANE retail markup.

I have an aqautic background on my cage. It really seems to brighten up the cage and my snakes seem to like it. I think thats where they get the likeing for climbing

Hehe - yeah compare their prices (esp bulps and sphagnum moss) to what you'd pay retail. Makes me think I oughta quit working systems support and go open up shop.

Judy and FoD, yep, i can just see a couple of very confused little cresties. I do have to make it rain for them twice a day, though, because they won't drink from a dish apparently. I was wondering if I could train them with a rodent-style water bottle.

Smulkin, yes, the prices are definitely competitive. A critter-keeper thing that i was looking at at Petco the other day for $12.99 was $4+ less there. But by their prices the value of the freebies I got with my cresties was $20, so that makes me even more impressed with Reptile Depot too.

Scott, FYI, all caps is considered to be yelling (which I'm sure you didn't mean) and is a bit harder to read. Nice background, tho. :) It looks pretty natural.

    sorry still learning
No problem, Scott. I have sticky shift keys on this keyboard so sometimes I just skip the caps altogether. I think that's easier to read than all caps, tho. :)

Isn't it hilarious how all caps is yelling? It really does feel like yelling I MEAN THIS WOULD MAKE ME UNCOMFORTABLE AFTER A WHILE - I forget to shift keys all the time i wouldn't even worry about it.

On another note... I went to a different PetSmart to look at backgrounds and at first it seemed like eleven rolls of aquatic.. then i started picking them up and on the flip side were some cool scenes!! I ended up with one that is a closeup of a giant tree trunk going into big rocks it's very blue-grey which fits the decor of my apt. as well. I trimmed off the gravel at the bottom so it flows pretty seamlessly into my coconut substrate - so if you are looking for backgrounds i found a bunch at petsmart just remember to flip over the aquatic ones.. Also unfortunately i didn't see all the posts on this until today but thank you guys for the links... i found one i like better but too late now, i already measured, cut, and taped. Strantely it seemed to intrigue my new friend who has been climbing quite a bit on his sandblasted grape vine - he seems to feel a bit more secure with the background and it hides the wires very very nicely.

Jonah, I think I saw that background one one of the sites I looked at today. I wish they'd link to bigger versions of the images, though. Glad you found one you're happy with. :)
