    Kink neck
I just rescued an albino boa, about 3 years old. Seems to have a neck kink. When being held he curls his head under and to the side. Is this something that can be fixed or is it possible to live comfortably with this issue? He ate a f/t just fine.

Here are some pics. Please let me know what you think

I doubt it can be fixed. He's obviously comfortable with it as he's eating. Just go with it and enjoy him.

I have a vet visit set up for tomorrow just to make sure it isn't neurological. Here are some pics of why I think it could be something more then a kink

Well the vet results came back. They did not find IBD which is good. it's definitely a neurological problem. I am treating him with antibiotics and I did notice a couple mites so I took care of those right away. I've already noticed that his neck is straightening. I really hope this works, he is such a beautiful snake.

Well after the recheck the vet said euthanasia was the best option at this point. I did everything I could for the poor guy but it just wasn't enough :(

I will find out what exactly was wrong when the necropsy comes back. We are thinking IBD or the :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r:ty people who I rescued him from used mite chemicals very wrong and messed up his brain bad.

Even tho the first test came back with a negative for IBD it still doesn't mean he didn't have it. A lot of the time you will get a false negative.

I felt terrible. I figured it would come down to this so I tried to not get attached but it still really effected me. I don't think I am cut out for this whole rescue thing. The joy I feel when I make one better is great but I don't know if I can handle losing another one. I only had this guy a little over a week so I wasn't very attached. It was more pure disgust that humans would be so cruel and neglectful to an animal that really got to me.

IBD generally can't be tested for until the animal is deceased and a necropsy of the proper organs is done.

Hopefully they find out for sure if it was or wasn't. Do you have any other snakes? If so we can only hope it wasn't IBD because they're still not positive how it's transmitted.

Yes I have quite a few snakes. He was not near the others and I was very carful but I am still worried.

I commend you for trying to help him and putting money down on his vet care and necropsy. Please let us know of the results, poor guy.
