Would you say this is a het pied?

I don't have any experience with het pieds, but I'm looking at getting a bumblebee het pied to pair (eventually) with my female pied. I found one that is 66% het pied, and I'd like to see what you think!

There is no way to tell for sure. There are "markers" but honestly no way to tell for sure. Just buy from a breeder you trust.

Yeah, I understand there is no way to tell. I just wanted input from people who have experience with het pieds

I understand but even having experience it is still a complete guessing game.

Ok, well thank you. Good to know it has the markers though, even though a normal one can have them. Maybe a better poll would be "Does your het pied have markers?", and another with "Does your normal have het pied 'markers'?", and get some actual data on it

you should just browse threads, There are tons of threads on markers and het pieds. You can find tons of info on here.

I don't think anyone said the snake in those pics had the "markers"? Neither of those pics even show the place where the markers could potentially be. And, from what I understand, het pied markers don't translate to spider morphs? I think the best thing you can do is buy from a trusted breeder and shoot for a 100% het. Unless your Ok with a 66% that may not work out.

the hetpied markers are no guantee ( spelling) that your snake is het pied.I have trouble tellnig the possible het pied from my normals ( from my het to het breeding) I know I got het pied ( bought from good breeders) and I also have since produced 3 pieds from those clutches . I also not sure on how other morphs effect the possible markers on the snake.

Personally, i wouldn't mess with poss hets unless 1) it costs just a little more than a non-poss het and 2) i would not be totally disappointed if it doesn't prove out.

I think markers are a little more dependable for snakes with guaranteed het parents. Still not 100%, though. And I look at a lot of het markers, but I honestly don't know how to read them on spiders. That's not a great belly shot.

Thanks for the input. And yeah, I have been looking for a bumblebee 100% het, they aren't too easy to find though :). I think my best option would be to find a really clean, bright yellow bumblebee, and produce a het myself. I wouldn't get this one at the price they are asking, but for less I would definitely consider.

JKR has a 100% het pied Bumblebee male for 900.00

even if you want us to guess, those picture don't show where the "markers" are.

I'll be producing hets next summer. ;) But I bet Jeff Holloway would be happy to talk to you about the bee you posted, even though there is no guarantee on a poss het. Those pictures just don't show enough of the belly for me to be willing to hazard an opinion.
