    Cheap balls?!
I'm looking to buy another ball python but I dont want another normal. What is the cheapest morph that actually looks good to buy? I know cheap and morph is hard to put in a sentence haha but I dont have much money to spend. Also where should I get it from? Is my local breeder the best idea or online?

pastels are probably your best option. shouldn't have too hard of a time finding a male for under $100. If your looking for a big difference from a normal then a spider male should also be right around the $100 mark.

There are tons of options for $150 or less. Pastel, Lemon Pastel, Pinstripe, Spider, Mojave, Lesser. I've seen all of these available for under $150. I bought a beautiful lemon pastel for $100 shipped. And he is awesome. My next favorite would probably be a pinstripe. But you have tons of options.

Not a fan of spiders. Pastels are great but that's my opinion

I am curious to where you or the lemon pastel for that price shipped?

The deals are out there.... I picked up a 1300gram male fire for 100$http://img.tapatalk.com/c6e4c89e-22c1-b774.jpg
He was off Craigslist from a local breeder.
I also picked up an f3 Nerd line lemon pastel 700grams and a gorgeous normal Dinker female 1300grams for 100$ for the pair. That's was another local sale. http://img.tapatalk.com/c6e4c89e-2344-f652.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/c6e4c89e-236c-e3b9.jpg
The deals are out there, just be persistent. I have less than 300$ into my collection and have 11 snakes at the moment.

To adress your other question of who to buy from, since you're looking for your first morph, if you're going to spend anywhere from $100 to $300, you might as well ensure you're guaranteed to buy a healthy animal from a trustworthy source. Justin Kobylka, Heather of Heather's Herps, Pacific Coast Reptiles.. Just to name a few lol.

    Look around here: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...play.php?f=499

    Or here: http://market.kingsnake.com/index.php?cat=32

If you want to know if a specific breeder is reputable, you can post an inquiry in the inquiry section here: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/forum...iries-Feedback

    Or here: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...splay.php?f=13

For your first morph, I'd recommend a sweet sweet lesser or mojave female. I'm more leaning towards the lesser though, because you definitely can't mistake one for a normal! Even a "low quality" one. Lessers and butters are pretty much the same thing, so if you search for either one of those, you'll find a lot of replies.

I also agree with the above posters who suggested pastel :gj:! Whenever I show my family or visitors a pastel, they're blown away at the pretty yellow coloration! Remember to pick out a NICE yellow pastel! With all the pastels being produced, there are some muddy brownish yellow pastels that will look like normals as adults. I suggest getting a pastel combo ball python. Pastel yellowbellies can be sweet looking. Bumblebees, pastel ghosts, super pastels.. All these are affordable, and sweet looking!

"Cheap" is a bad word. I hear cheap...I think tag sale scores or Ikea furniture.

"Less expensive" is more like it.

Pastels, yellowbellies, even male cinnamons and mojaves are less expensive now.

Agreed - that's a HUGE pet peeve for me (click the link in my signature about "cheap")- using the work cheap when talking about a living animal. I would choose "most affordable".

The word cheap just "cheapens" the animal.

I personally shop the snake, not the price. You can find some really ugly pastel males for as low as $40. Or - you can pay a lot more for the best example that you can find - if your plan is to breed.

If it's just for a pet and you want to simply own one - go for the the lowest priced, lower quality critter if price is the primary driver.

I bought him from Shelly at Firestorm Reptiles. He was 10 1/2 months old and 585g when I got him. He is healthy and beautiful.

You could always save your money to get a $400+ dollar snake if that's what you really want. For me, I'm getting a pastel lesser as my first snake which costs $600 dollars. I've been patiently waiting for over a year.

Well I could never wait that long haha. I think I plan on buying either a nice pastel or a spider for around $100.

Where are you located? If your local I'll keep my eyes open for nice snakes in your price range.

A male bumblebee would be a beautiful snake to add and shouldn't be too expensive as a baby. They are awesome buggers!

Most breeders will offer payment plans. Or get a spider and a pastel and make your own.

:confusd::confusd::confusd: Dont know where you are heading with this:confusd::confusd::confusd:
Most of those here breed OR plan to breed and you dont want to start with low end if you are planning to breed at any time.
Again, your "cheap" and mine are two different things;)
Also saving or dealing with a good/cool breeder is a great thing because not only will you get a great animal but someone that might work out a payment plan.:gj:

I have to say it... ;)

    Cheap refers to poor quality.
Inexpensive refers to good quality for a good price.

I would stay away from cheap animals and lean towards a good example of an inexpensive morph. Pastel, Spider, Pin etc...

Edit: I see the whole "Cheap" thing was covered on page 2, sorry I missed that. For the record, I would never want any of my animals called cheap. Just because they are set at an affordable price does not mean they are of lesser quality or cheaper.
