    Macklot's pythons - where's the love?
I never see too much about Macklot's pythons around any of the forums but my pair are some of my most impressive snakes. They're extremely curious and legitimately seem almost intelligent at times. They're about 5 years old and are well beyond their juvenile snappiness....very cool snakes.

Yeah I don't know why they don't get more attention... or even their close relatives the Savu pythons that have a little more color on them. They're a lot of fun!

I've got a pair of macks myself, but they're still young and snippy. They guy I got them from though uses his adults all the time in educational shows and they are some of the calmest most easy going snakes I've ever met. I understand they get over their juvenile attitude very quickly once they reach adult size. But even so, they're still some of the most favorite snakes in my collection. Their iridescence in person is amazing and I know exactly what you're talking about with their intelligence. I do enjoy all of my snakes, but they really are not the Einsteins of the animal world. The Macklots however seem different in that respect, they just seem to be much more aware.

I think they're awesome, beautiful animals! I don't have any, but I have actually window-shopped for them.

They're very beautiful! I think we'll need to keep seeing pictures of them in the future!

Beautiful! Are they related to the Children's Python?

Not closely as far as I know....although wasn't the Childrens' classification changed not all that long ago? Macks are in the Liasis genus, so their closest relatives are Olive, Savu, and Indonesian water pythons.

Haven't had a chance to see any Macks in person, but Savus are next on my wishlist. I'll have to take a closer look at these guys. Very cool snakes!

This whole genus has crazy looking eyes but I think the Savu's top top my list of cool appearances.... favorite ones are the rust colored ones with the bright silver eyes.

My Mack's are both about 4 years old and pushing 9 ft long. I love them!!!

I feel like they don't get as much attention now that I have to take care of all these Ball Python's *Exasperated Sigh* :D

They are absolutely stunning in the sunlight!

Holy cow! Mine are nowhere near that long! Did you push them hard or did they do that on a normal feeding schedule?

Those are some smoking Macks, some of the nicest I've seen. I'm really thinking about buying some Savu's here soon, they are such neat snakes as well.

They have reached that length through once a week feedings every Sunday for 4 years however this and last winter they both went off feed for 3+ months. They are now eating Large rats about once every 15 - 20 days. I'll get some pics of them and get them posted to this thread.

two years ago my Friend Matt was trying to give me a female that was a solid 11 Footer and almost as big around as a Baseball in her mid section BUT she was the DEVIL and I passed it up. Turns out she got placed in a home and with steady handling tamed right down.
