    Mike
well ive got some good news and some bad news thats been accumulating...

    ill start with the bad.
i had two dogs, Kuma and Anderson. somehow the gate to my backyard was left open and they got out. they were gone for hours before we realized so they were already long gone. we went out and searched, put up signs and checked the pound. ive lost hope im pretty sure they are gone forever. i wasnt gonna post it, cuz i didnt really want sympathy or pity or whatever it is people get when their dogs run away. but ive got good news too so we can forget about the bad stuff...

    more good news...
well this is kinda bad news too....temps were in the 80s-90s this week. and spring breaks comin up. you can bet ill be herping this week. also theres a reptile show saturday and sunday. if only i had gotten this job a month earlier...
    ...even more news...

Dude, Right On! First job is so liberating! plus 5.45 isn't so bad compared to 0.00 you know. Congrats on the job and make sure when you purhcase new snakes you have money for emergency vet visits, and remeber that snakes live a long time! Be prepared to care for them a long time!
congrats (and really sorry about your dogs)

bagger was my first job. i hated it. at an old, GHETTO mini-supermarket. called Star Value. i got fired for drinkin' a 40 in the break room.

btw man, i hope you find your puppies. i'll say a lil prayer for em. losing your dog sucks.

Sorry about your puppies, but good luck at the job! Keep looking, I heard that Fry's treats their employees like poopie. Get used to being searched before you leave and putting up with similar bull. Not to discourage you or anything... :)

Whats minimum wage down there? Here it is 6.50, and they have plans to bump it to 7.15 or somethin.

    Sorry/Congrats...

Oh Mike I am so sorry to hear that, don't give up on looking for your pups cause ya never know.
I had one of my pups jumped out of the car on the way home from the Vet several years ago and never found her but I think she was snatched up by someone in that area. But I have had several friends find there pups weeks later. As with Wizill I to will say a little prayer for the pups.

Congrats on the job- work is work - if it was fun then they would call it fun! to quote Red from that 70's show
But nothing like that first paycheck! and hey we all have to start some where just don't get caught drinking a 40 in the breakroom ! ;)
You are so lucky to live where the weather is always great
As the paychecks come in we shall see your herp collection grow!!!

Wow!!! My first job payed a whopping $1.45 an hour (Tastee Freeze) So....Congrat's on your new job! How times have changed, though not much.

Mike, I'm so sorry to hear about your dogs, but don't give up hope. They may just be out sowing wild oats or something.

Congratulations on the job too, and don't sweat the fact that you'll "only" earn $5.45. I think by law first jobs are supposed to be not so great. Mine was working at McDonald's for minimum wage (and that was back in the late 80s when they still wore those awful ugly scratchy humiliating polyester uniforms!). But there's nothing better than getting a paycheck with your name on it (even if you do smell like fry grease when you get home).

Will, could you be more ghetto..lol j/k.

Mike I am sorry to hear about your dogs, I bet they will come back from a grand adventure soon.
Congrats on your new job, paychecks are great!
Congrats on your new slider too. If you have any questions on your new turtle, we would be glad to help. They make good pets once you get their care down.
    Congrats again!

Mike, I am sorry about your dogs. That's terrible to lose them. As several others said, they may still come back so don't give up hope altogether.

On the other hand, congrats on your first job! My first 'real' job (not babysitting or church daycare) was working at Winn Dixie as a cashier wearing a nasty polyester uniform. I was a cashier only because the sexist manager wouldn't hire me for the open stock position. She was a [female dog] through and through as it turned out. It paid $4.25 an hour. I've never heard of Fry's but I'm guessing it's a grocery store too from the position. I think first jobs are more for learning lessons about the working world than making money or building a job history, so you're off to a fine start. :)

Yeah, Fry's is a grocery chain in the Southwest.

I don't think anyone ever has a really cool or fun first job. Even the glamorous stars and celebs have great stories about their first jobs slinging burgers or sweeping out parking lots. (Except those that start out as child actors...I guess they'd be the exception to that, huh? :) )

Dobby is having a bad day (long)
I think I'd rather sweep a parking lot than be a child actor, personally. Their personalities and perspectives get completely warped by the experience and they often don't get a chance to have much of a childhood. I'm pretty sure most of what's wrong with Michael Jackson is a result of his not getting to be a kid since he was 5 years old.

wow, thats alot of replies...i forgot i even posted this. haha. k well i have alot to reply to. to all of you, thanks for the prayers and hope that theyll come back today. Kuma actually ran away all the time. but it was always out the front dor, so i could just run and catch her. anderson wouldnt run away he could just hang out in front. he obviously followed kuma.

im not sure that i would consider 120 degrees great weather but if it is...im way lucky! winter is definatly gone here, and we might be skipping spring! i think we just had a heat-wave. (low 90's)

ya turtles are cool. snakes are better, but still turtles are cool. i used to have a big common snapper. then i figured out it was illegal to have it :(. my mom called the az herp. society and they took it. it once swallowed a hot dog whole (my dad gave it to him. i know it was bad...only did it once, he bloated up.)
Anywho...i still have to get it a UV light setup. ugh. thats gonna take up like half my first paycheck. until then hell get to bask in the sun everyday. he just downed 10 lil fish:)

i dont think my jobs gona be too bad. im workin with like 5 of my friends and the boss lady is pretty tight. we shall see...

thanks for the replies everyone. see ya!

I couldn't agree with you more on that one. Regular people envy the rich and famous, but they never stop to think of what a horrible life they lead. No privacy, no anonymity. And think about it; they have so much money, and buy so many expensive toys, but when do they have time to use them? Then, if youfactor in drug addictions and never being with your spouse (due to touring, etc.) what kinda life is that?
I don't care if I am living paycheck to paycheck; I just care about the important things in my life. My family, friends, pets, and the ability to go out hiking in the woods and have time to enjoy nature. You can't buy that.

Exactly, Ginevive -- though I'd rather not be living paycheck to paycheck, the other things in life are much more important.
