Nobody uses Herp in their name?
I was sifting through the subforum, lurking as I usually tend to do, and I realized that nobody uses herp in their ficticious name.
Do you think it is primarily out of fear for how immature people tend to be? Should people consider using it as part of their name?
:snake:

Re: Nobody uses Herp in their name?
I think you're way over thinking this one...
-
Just a curious observation.

I would say virus and herp go hand in hand :D . . . I had to . . . I saw a coincidental opening and took it.
-
Heh, I can't blame you for it. :P

^ BOOM. Just destroyed this thread.

Man, I thought I was a lurker. Are you on the forums regularly, but just rarely post?
Either way, it's cool to see someone with it.

The OP is from central MO, which is the terriotry of the universtiy of mizzery (MO). The rivalry between my school, The University of Kansas, and mu goes back to the civil war, the worst incident being when 200 men and boys were murdered in Lawrence KS by a group of hooligans from MO. Anyway, my shcool chant is "Rock Chalk, Jayhawk." I figured that me posting that was as useful as the original post , so I wanted to share. :P

I wouldn't say anyone in the herp community is scared to use herp in their name I think its a matter of what handle they have become accustomed to. I have been using Rocialhabit for years and is something that has just kinda caught on.

Though I love herps and herpetology, I don't find "herp" to be all that pleasant a word. It's kind of mushy ... I mean, thanks to South Park, it (especially when combined with its companion word, "derp") has even come to replace the old '80's standbys of "duh" and "doii." Plus there is, of course, its connection (via a mutual etymology from the Greek word for "crawling thing") with the word for a group of viruses best known for their manifestation on human genitals.
Maybe it's time we take back the word, but ... Words like "snake" and "serpent" and "scale" and "exotic" just have more zazz to them.

Well, coming back to this thread. I suppose this should be of note to others. If you are becoming reacquainted with a night schedule, then you should probably either post less, or take more time when posting to avoid rambling.
Thanks for the input everyone :rolleye2:

If this was directed at me, you should know that my post from 3:22 a.m. central time was actually made at 12:52 p.m. here in Afghansitan. Booyah, and ROCK CHALK!

Not really. I work night shifts, and I just got back from vacation (which was pleasantly on a day schedule), so I've been dragging all week.
Also, I understand the time lapse from here to Afghanistan pretty well. I spent 2010 over there.

Got you. Funny though, we moved to a new FOB recently and I haven't been able to fall asleep here at all. Most nights I'm asleep by 0300, so needless to say it sucks. At least you actually work at night when you're up! What are you doing for work now?
As to the original post - My "company name" has the word herps in it, but I came up with it after I registered at this site.

Re: Nobody uses Herp in their name?
I used the name "Seeker" cause that is what I generally do on this site. Seek out information, and help
