Ball python morph Question/poll.

I have a male pastel ball python and want to breed. He is only 100 grams but growing fast. I want to get him a mate so they can grow together because female ball python get more expensive when older of course. So, I was wondering what morph I should get under the 300 dollar price range. Also I have a ready to breed pair of sand boas and I love sand boas. so the question is should i get a morph of BP for my male to grow together or, Expand my sand boa breeding collection. The morph poll is above vote on what you think.

If it was me for 300 i'd get a female fire or a spider.

I personally like some variety to my collection. I have more than just ball pythons. It is nice to keep different species! I think getting a young female to be the future mate to your male is a great idea. It's a few years down the road but its good to plan in advance! You can get a lot for under $300. Spider, Pin, Cinnamon, Mojave, Lesser....the list goes on.

It is ultimately up to you. Get the snake you like the most! It should be an easy decision when it really comes down to it.

Variety in a collection is a good idea, I plan to breed ball pythons,JCPs, and high blue GTPs.
I would say save more money for a 2 gene female, because later down the road when your breeding ball pythons it will give you more morphs from a single clutch. You can get a lot of 2 gene females for $500. Also look into resesive genes.

in response to bobbafetts answer. i would just spend the extra 200 and buy a bumblebee rather than trying to breed one if that is the goal down the road. if ur already wanting to spend 300 why not a hundo or 2 more. pull a couple more overtime shifts lol.

Get whatever you have the most fun with. We all have different plans.

If I asked this community which project of mine I should expand (BPs, carpet pythons, hognose snakes, rhac geckos), I'm sure that 4/5 responses would be to get a BP, particularly because our next purchase is going to be really cool male (ideally a het hypo enchi lesser) to add to our SPOG project. However, since we haven't hatched out our first SPOG yet, that's on the backburner, and we've already decided that after our first clutch of het albino hoggies, we're going to invest in an anaconda het albino hognose, and we're saving all of our income from selling our various hatchlings to move our rhac project from focusing on crested geckos and hopefully switch gears to leachies in a few years.

Of course I'm crossing my fingers that we'll see a SPOG (or at least a POG) female soon, and if it happens.. that might instantly become project priority #1.

what kind of sand boa would you be look to get? just a normal or something a little fancy? i have a couple sand boas and i cant wait to start breeding them.

You should base your decision on your breeding goals and general idea of which direction you want your collection to go in.

Your best outcomes for the some of the single gene animals in your price range would be:
Pastel x Cinny = Pewter
Pastel x Mojave = Pastave
Pastel x Spider = Bumble Bee
Pastel x Pinstripe = Lemon Blast
Pastel x Fire = Firefly

Some Second generation projects could lead you to (best results):
Pewter x Cinny = Super Cinny, Silver Bullets, more Pewters
Mojave x Pastave = BEL's, Pastel BEL's, more Pastaves
Firefly x Fire = Super Fire (Black Eyed Lucy), Pastel Super Fires, more Fireflies
