Online Rodents
Hello! I am about out of mice/rats for my snakes and I will be ordering some in bulk to be shipped to my house next week. I used to use Rodent Pro and based on recent events, I'm choosing to take my business elsewhere. That said, what online companies do you recommend? I've heard Big Cheese (but that they are short on rats right now), Big Apple Pet Supply (though they are fairly pricy), and Layne Labs. Any others that you would recommend? Any one better than another? I'm looking for professionalism, integrity, honestly, and quality rodents that are killed humanely and packaged appropriately.

Re: Online Rodents
I would recommend American Rodent for their free shipping. Their products are decently packed, I'd say they're good if they're cheaper then the others. Depending on where you live, they have a 10-20$ dry ice charge which is better then the 50$ shipping with someone like Rodent Pro. The only problem is Rodent Pro is often out of rat and mice sizes :(

Re: Online Rodents
sadly, I think I'm in the red zone for their shipping. So if I have to pay discounted shipping + dry ice fee, it will probably be about the same :/
Edit: Just checked out their stock. They are out of stock for all the sizes I need. Sad day.

You can try loxahatchee. I just ordered from them and they had what I needed. Good prices and shipping wasn't too bad.

Re: Online Rodents
Did your rodents seem fresh? So far they've been the cheapest, then Layne Labs. I like Layne labs because they have more of a variety of sizes. However, I'd be willing to buy from Loxahatchee if they're rodents are as fresh as they look

I'm about to place an order with Layne Labs within a couple days (nothing to do with RP which was who I always ordered from - it's just I need small feeders this time but don't need a bag of 100 of them like RP does, Layne has bags of only 25-50 which is perfect for what I need) so when I get them I'll be sure to comment on the quality and my transaction in this thread.

That's another reason I'm switching. I had to buy a bag of 100 XS and S pinkie mice for my corns and now I have over 50 left of each with no babies to eat them. I can't seem to find people to buy them...so they are about to get trashed since I've had them for about 3 1/2 months now and they will just sit in my freezer. I like that Layne labs does small bags. Then if I only need 25, I can get 25 and not have to purchase 100 at a time.

Exactly, I like the options of the smaller bags.
And off topic but hopefully you find a buyer! I hate wasting food, have it be feeders or my people food  When I had [feeder] left overs I just doubled up them during feedings to use them up faster (like some fuzzies and mice weanlings I had extra of)

Haven't gotten my order yet, only ordered it this morning. I've heard good things about them though, as well as layne labs.

There's a chance I'll be getting a baby corn at the expo this weekend (I REALLY want a Miami phase corn)...so I'll be able to use a few of those on the new corn until he outgrows them.

I ordered my last Batch of pinkies and fuzzys from them in July. Very fresh and dry ice kept well. The pinkies seemed to be the freshest I've bought so far, they were actually skin tone, no blemishes like others I've purchased in the past. The fuzzys were good quality too.

The last two orders I have gotten from american rodent the bags are split or busted open and I have to either rebag or tape them. plus I dislike how they are just thrown in the bags with additional turds and bedding.

Same experience I had with my last Mice Direct order . . . plus horrible experience with missing my shipment because "they forgot" by a week. . . I plan to use Loxahatchee from now on on L Labs per manys suggestion. No more Mice Direct or Rodent Pro for me.

I have ordered from Loxahatchee. I like that they vacuum seal their bags, which will extend the usefulness of the frozen rodents and protect them from freezer burn. I will say that there was an error in my order, they sent me 200 mouse pinkies instead of 200 rat pinkies. When I contacted them, they fixed the order at no cost to me and I donated the mouse pinkies to a local reptile rescue. They seem like a good company to deal with and so far, I'm happy with their product.

+1
i've used them for my past 3 orders and haven't had any issues with them. great packaging, fast shipping and good prices

I got my first order from Layne Labs today. I only have two BPs but $6 a rat at petsmart is insane. I got 25 s/m rats, 25 hoppers and 20 Small mice for $106 (includes shipping). 25 rats alone would have cost $150+ at petsmart.
Everything looks nice and clean. Very well packed. Still frozen solid even though the box was in the sun for about 2 hours because the UPS driver didn't bother ringing the doorbell even though the box was clearly marked perishable & keep frozen

Have y'all done your research in your area? Most areas have local mice/rat breeders. I have a guy about 30 away I buy from. Little pricier per amount but no shopping so extremely cheaper in the long run. You'd be surprised.

Well I got my Layne Labs order today, and though the feeders looks nice and plump, well packaged, and were still totally frozen (got to me in only 2 days) they messed up my order: instead of sending me 10 jumbo MICE they sent me 11 jumbo RATS.....I'll be contacting them on Monday to see if they can help me out with that. Or calling tomorrow, silly me was thinking today was already Friday.

Contacted them today and they're going to offer me a credit on my next order since they forgot my mice and they're letting me keep the rats: I can work with that :) So overall even though they flubbed the mice I will order from them again and am happy.
