Poll: Senior/Geriatric Ball Pythons: How old is your oldest BP?
I always hear that ball pythons can live for 10-20 years...but I have yet to see a 20 year old ball python. How old are/were your oldest snakes, and say a bit about the husbandry of your senior pythons. Do they require special care? Slow down over time? Take longer naps? Gum their food? ;) Etc., etc.

My friends had a BP for 16 years, then gave her to me last summer - she turned 17 sometime in June. She's occasionally seen slithering at a snails pace, but other than being slow and calm, she shows no signs of age :)

One of my old science teachers had a male normal that he claimed was 20 years old. Biggest male I ever saw, and the best temperament to boot!

My big girl is 10 years old. Rescued her from a local family that had been under feeding her most of her life so she wouldn't grow to fast.. She's about 2200grams now

Re: Poll: Senior/Geriatric Ball Pythons: How old is your oldest BP?
Hi I just joined this forum. i was looking up info to find out what happens as BP’s get older. The one I take care of is 20+ years old. I can't
remember exactly when I got him but before I graduated school in 1994. He is fine. I have not noticed much change in his demeanor.
Now that my life has calmed down though, I have more time to let him out for supervised crawls around the room. Kid tame, nice snake that I am proud of. I did not realize that people feed them rats. Mine has been getting a mouse a week forever except for the occasions he does not want to eat. He is about 5 feet long.
