    Desertmoyave x normal hatchling??
    Hi,

we paired a desertmoyave male to a normal wildcatched female and get this hatchling...... it looks different to a desertmoyave??

    What do you mean?

    Thanks

it looks like there could be something recessive. It's very unlikely but it's possible it could be axanthic desert mojo ?

Can't be Pewter if Mojo is involved...And sire does look to have Mojo in him. I see no Cinny or Black Pastel.

Has the normal been paired before? Retained sperm maybe?

Let me ask another dumb question, Is it possiable that you got clutch cards mixed up in the incubator.. at some point..

    Re: Desertmoyave x normal hatchling??
also no, becouse we have a incubation room where evere clutch is in its own tube which is signed after the eggs are putted in....

what do you think it is , if you do not know the parents?

If I was handed that animal I'd say pewter..But let it shed and see if the color changes. Color changed post shed can be really drastic.

it was a mystery clutch from te beginning.... I got 12eggs, 6 eggs gone bad, the first of the whole breeding season, then, the first 3 hatchlings seem to be normal and then this little guy hatched. In the other 2 eggs is I think a deformed baby and a desert. but we will see in the next days.....

I would say that is a pewter. Did you breed this female last year or did someone else? It could definitely be retained sperm.

Ok I gotta ask..... How long can a female actually retain sperm for? Sorry I've seen it mentioned several times and always wondered.

    Nice baby by the way!

You defiantly have a mystery on your hands here! From the picture I would almost be convinced he was a pewter. But from the paring I don't see how that's possible. Post another picture after he sheds and lets see how he looks then. I am not sure if residual sperm from a breeding last year could last this long. Queries to know if it could This will explain a lot in this situation.

When was she caught? I doubt very much there are pewters cruising around in the african wilderness haha, but you never know. She could be a reduced pattern axanthic cinny.. Lol

Forgive me for asking, but how sure are you that male is Desert Mojave ? I've only ever seen hatchling pictures, so I don't know for sure what an adult looks like, but could he possibly be something else ?

Can you post some better pictures of mom please, with a belly shot and closeup of the sop of her head and her eyes. Try to use a good light and no flash. Where did you get her and how long have you had her and what was her weight when you got her?

I also see a pewter. Here's a pewter that I hatched this year.

    Just for comparison anyways

Also I know females can retain for to a year. I got a het hypo female last year and bred her this year only pairing her with my hypo male. Out of the clutch I got hypos, hets and a pastel het hypo. My friends records showed that she had been paired 1x with a pastel hypo last year. So my thoughts anyways is could she have been paired at anytime with a sterling?

today we put the last to babys out from the eggs, both were extreme deformed.

But it was day 65 so I think that the colour is the right that they should have.

I think one was a desert and the other has a axanthic colour ????

I dont know if I should post a picture here...it is very sad.....

    Regards

What I DON'T see is a desert, or a mojave.
    What is it YOU see?
I find it weird that so many "breeders" are coming to forums to ask complete strangers what they've hatched.
