Can u help me id this morph
I bought out a collection off someone today and included was a snake that he called a ghost but i'm unsure of. the only ghost i can find that looks like it is a desert ghost. i'm thinking it's an axanthic. it's actually much more silver looking in person but in the pics it has a little yellow tint.

Not a ghost or axanthic. I'm think something like a vanilla, maybe?

x2 certainly not an Axanthic
-
It's got me stumped for sure. all the vanillas i have seen where much more brownish then this guy is. it's cool looking for sure and i got a slammin deal on the collection so it's fine no matter what it is. i'm just curious to find out what.
-
Well it's a good looking snake that's for sure.
-
I was thinking that others with a better eye for the subtle morphs would chime in to help you out better. He definitely is a gorgeous snake :)
-
Fire? It has a very distinctive head stamp

Vanillas tend to have a distinctive head stamp as well. This one doesn't seem to have much blushing, which I believe is also something along the fire gene.
I could be wrong. I'm learning ways to distinguish these subtle morphs myself.
-
I would put money on it that, that is a hypo/ghost hands down. compare this pic http://snakesnmoresnakes.blogspot.co...hon-photo.html
-
Re: Can u help me id this morph
My guess would be Fire as well. As far as the lack of blushing goes, the pattern covers so much surface that there just isn't much area that could show blushing. Plus, it's still pretty small. You may find as it grows and sheds more that you will see more blushing appear.

Re: Can u help me id this morph
Ghost/Hypo. That wouldn't be an easy mistake to make when you are buying an animal, especially considering price differences.
-
I'm seeing ghost as well. It doesn't look like a fire, axanthic or vanilla to me. The best way to tell is to look at the shed. If you can't see any pattern on it then you have a ghost/hypo.
-
Fire
that head spot on a reddish head, speckling on the lower aliens, coloring is a bit over exposed but I'd be shocked if it was not a fire....
-
-
It's funny that some people are saying fire and others hypo, but say it can't be the other. Fire description is a co dom hypomelanistic looking morph. It looks fire to me, but wait to see the shed.

Green pastel :p just wanted to be different
-
This one's kinda hard for me. Base on the first pic, I say ghost. But on the new pics, it looks like a fire. But still, Im leaning towards ghost. :)
A quick question though, do fire shed clear skins like ghost do?
-
Fire is my vote

no only ghost/hypo have the white sheds fires dont my ghost just shed and its not clear its just really white and the first pictures make me think OG but I dont have a clue about the next set of pictures
-
-
Check its shed skin next time it sheds. If there is no pattern it is a ghost, if there is it's probably is a fire.
-
I think that's gonna be my best bet and if that still doesn't clear it up i'll breed him to a normal girl i have and see what pops out.

Send it to me .... And I'll figure it out....... ;)

I don't see ghost. My immediate first thought was fire. Nice looking one too... :gj:
-
That is a ghost....We can keep guessing but breeding it would definitely put this to an end. Did you ask the person you bought the collection off of? They would of had to produce it or buy it so they should know.
-
I'm surprised at the couple of replies I read first..
but I'm confident it's a ghost/hypo/orange ghost.. many names for the same morph. Pic looks like a hypo/ghost/orange ghost, seller claimed it's a ghost, I don't think there's any issue here to be debated.
-
Truthfully, I can see both the hypo/ghost look, and the fire look in your snake.
The outdoor pictures really lean towards fire, it just doesn't have the "permanently in blue" look that says hypo to me in those pictures.
However, in the first few, I can see the clear cut hypo/ghost look.
If I could see it in person, I'd know without a doubt, but from these pictures, I swing between the two morphs.

In person it def looks more like the second set of pics then it does the first. but it still looks a little more silver grey color with a hint a green then is showing up on the pics. i have a better camera so maybe tomorrow i'll grab a few pics with that one and see if the color comes out more true to life with it.

1000% a fire ~ it never even looked like a ghost at all :confusd:
It even has the solid black eyes of a fire...

x2!

Ditto, the indoor pictures look a bit ghost-y, but in the outdoor ones the black is just too black.
But the shed will tell you for sure if it's a ghost. It's kinda wacky, that we have so many pictures here, and we're all still split between fire and ghost...
-
Now those pictures leave no doubt at all, that my friend is a Fire, and a nice one.

I would contact the person you bought the collection from and see what details you can get. Could it be a Desert Ghost? If it starts changing as it ages you have your answer. With the original owner saying Ghost and you describing a silverish color that's my guess. Desert Ghost
-
Desert ghost was my first guess and it's also the only snake i can find pictures of that looks exactly like this guy. i'm just waiting on him to shed so i can get a little clearer picture. and as far as everyone saying it's a fire i just don't see it. i understand the head pattern looks like a fire but any fire that was this color was much older and larger and had a ton of blushing and this guy has no blushing at all.
-
Not all fire's have the blushing. And I'm sorry, but he is no where near bright enough to look like a desert ghost. Not to me anyway.
Once he shed's, you should be able to tell from the shed if he is a ghost. But I still stand by the fire. I have two myself, and he carries "the look".
I am curious to find out if he is really a ghost, because he just doesn't carry the typical ghost look at all.

I am patiently waiting for him to shed too so i'll definately post a pic as soon as he does. here's a link to the desert ghost page on nerds website where some of the pics i found that look like my guy are. the very first pic to me looks just like my little guy. http://newenglandreptile.com/nerd/in...ert-ghost.html
-
I'm jumping on the fire train as well for 2 reasons.
1) it has the head stamp, color, and the eyes of a fire
2) desert ghosts go for a very pretty penny, and I'm guessing that any person with the funds to grab one of those, probly would sell it for a pretty penny as well.
It's a damn nice fire tho! I'd breed it to a crazy bright pastel and make fireflys that will knock people's socks off!

I'm not sure if he'll breed yet but most likely i will put him in with my pinstipe girl and see what happens. either outcome would be cool though firepins or pins het desert ghost.

My money is on green ghost, quite commonly underrated and underpriced imo.
I have an identical one.

Not all of them have very frosted black and the head makes me certain.
