New DIY light box/Studio for our pythons...new pics (Thoughts?)
So, I got all jazzed up last night and decided to build myself a new WTF Morphs Studio. Couldn't wait to get home today and put it together. All told it took me about 1 hour to make from start to finish. Instantly got 5 or so of the snakes out (several in shed or just ate) and started playing. What do you guys think? I need to play with backgrounds and siding for opaqueness but I think it is a good start. Also, working on upgrading my camera to a DSLR Rebel but for not my Nikon P500 does pretty well. Thanks for any input!

    The Set Up:

Loving it so far, here are some initial pics...no post processing (added light, etc.)

Honestly I just can't stop looking at her and she is very photogenic. With this new setup her colors just erupted even more on film. Thanks for the input!

Very nice. I recently built my first lightbox and was really happy with the results. Now all I can think about is how to build a bigger/better one. I really like your setup and the results are great. It has given me a few ideas!

    Glad I could help
:) I did a lot of research and finally settled on this setup. really easy to set up too. If you don't mind me asking, what are you using for you backdrops? I started with tissue paper as it is easy to position and cheap but my BPs kept sneaking behind it. I was thinking of picking up some foam board or something, and eventually moving up to fabric background (grass, etc.) but my concern is light absorption.

Thanks for any input! Will definitely come in handy this winter, but loving the lighting!

Looks great! Love the spider photos the best!
I suggest using white poster board instead of the tissue. It's ~$2 at target or less.
It gives a nice smooth look.

Do light tents give a better true to life coloring? Or is natural daylight best?

Thank you! I originally had black poster board but that was a mistake and seemed to absorb too much light. I will pick some white poster board up tomorrow. Have you played with any other colors?

So, from my limited experience, sun light is best but for indoor shooting nothing will get you better color reproduction and quality then a good light tent. I am comparing photos from before with my new ones and it is night and day and holds much more true to their natural colors.

Outdoor (Sunny day, no clouds) with my mojave:

See above for today's indoor pics. As close as I can get. Also, here are a few more of my male pastel. He wouldn't cooperate earlier but he is by far my friendliest most social snake :)

I love it. I always build my own light tents and save some money. Great job

Simple tissue paper, diffuses the 100 watt daylight bulbs pretty well around the box. I think I went slightly too tall and would go with a more square box next time. Picked up some foam board as background and different things to play with tomorrow!

I can email some if you wish. I have since purchased and upgraded my light tent twice but let me know if you need help. Our Facebook page includes information as well.

    Have a great weekend!
